ITV coverage today comes live from Ascot, Haydock and Newmarket with 7 races in total.
I have selections in 5 of those races and I give my thoughts in full on the Gambla Racing Podcast which went out yesterday afternoon (Friday). Give us a follow and a listen each week and let us know if you have any feedback.
1.50pm Ascot
THEOTHESIDE is a progressive three year old filly who went up 8lb for her win last time out but she did that nicely after being bumped early on. Pat Dobbs comes in for the ride today and I can see her winning this.
2.25pm Ascot
Ian Williams is a trainer that I have plenty of respect for and I think that EJTILAAB has plenty of room for improvement after only 3 runs. He clearly surprised them last time with his 3rd place finish and I think he will be primed for a big run today.
3.00pm Ascot
This one is my best bet of the week in the hope that this race has been the target for the season. EDDYSTONE ROCK won what was effectively this race last year at the Shergar Cup meeting and has now dropped back down to below his last winning mark (admittedly after some poor runs). The booking of young Ciaran Fallon really catches the eye because he has a alb weight allowance which makes the horse look attractively handicapped over a course and distance which he enjoys. I'm not sure that they would go to the trouble of booking young Fallon if this race wasn't the target and the double figure price is too big.
3.20pm Newmarket
The form of DUBAI FOUNTAIN stacks up nicely including a listed race 2nd where she beat Setarhe (who re-opposes today) who herself had finished 2nd at Royal Ascot. That form has much more depth than the maiden win that the favourite has to her name here so the sensible bet seems to be Dubai Fountain to me.
3.35pm Ascot
In a tricky handicap the tentative selection is MEDAL WINNER who returns to good to firm ground for the first time since his maiden win and can step up on his lat few performances. He is a lightly raced four year old so there could be some improvement to come under these conditions.
