SATURDAY brings the last and final day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival and there are also four races from Newmarket broadcast live on terrestrial TV so it promises to be a cracker.
Have a listen to the Gambla Racing Podcast where I run through all the ITV races and give my thoughts and tips:
1.50pm Goodwood
I think THE LAMPLIGHTER can outrun his odds from a low weight. Conditions should be ideal for him. Since recording the podcast his odds have drifted to an even bigger price so a small stakes each way bet is the order of the day.
2.25pm Goodwood
I fancy KING’S ADVICE here who has been backed since I tipped him at 9-1 on the podcast. These will be ideal conditions for him as a course and distance winner off 4lb higher last season and I think he can leave his last performance well behind him and go close today.
3.35pm Goodwood – Stewards Cup
I have two selections in this one. WATAN is an improving horse and very lightly raced and I think he will enjoy this test. ANGEL ALEXANDER is a massive price and we need to forgive him a few bad performances but he has now dropped to a workable mark when you look at his Ayr Gold Cup Win and is worth an each punt with Hills paying 7 places on the race.
4.10pm Goodwood
It’s a tentative each way selection for me in this race with TOMFRE who gets on really well with Harry Bentley and can outrun his price here.
Newmarket
At Newmarket I have three selections and I’m recommending three doubles and a treble on them. SHE’S SO FINE (2.05pm) has a really obvious chance based on her convincing course and distance win and there should be more to come. Add in BAASHIR (2.40pm) who looks like a very promising horse for the Charlie Hills yard and is the most likely one to improve again today. The third part of the treble is KATARA (3.15pm) who has been smashed up since I tipped her at around 2-1 on the podcast last night. She is now just a fair price but we will keep her in the treble anyway. You can’t fail to have been impressed by her easy maiden win last time and I think she will keep on improving.
Watan looking like a nice Each way bet .
Good luck for the final V. of V .
