I had a well-earned break last weekend but I’m fully recharged and back with a bang for an exciting two days at Epsom. We obviously have the Derby on Saturday but today is just as good racing with the Oaks taking centre stage. Who will be the best middle distance filly in the country? I have one that I fancy to go prettty close.
As it transpires I also have another two horses that I really fancy running at Epsom and another at Catterick who can hopefully get the day off to the perfect start so we have 4 tips in total today.
2.25pm Catterick
COOL MACAVITY is one that I had been following over hurdles in the hope that he could win a race after he fell when going nicely back in October. That win didn’t transpire and he has now switched from Nicky Henderson to Alexandra Dunn and will run on the flat in this race. This is a very low quality race and a reproduction of his average form on the flat should be enough to see him win easily enough here. Jockey Rossa Ryan claims a valuable 5lb of weight and the only danger comes from the favourite St Malo but he is 6lb inferior at the weights and I think he is the wrong favourite. I would price the race up as my guy as favourite at about even money so the fact that we are getting 2/1 makes it a good solid bet for me.
3.45pm Epsom
I am in danger of following BANDITRY off a cliff but he has run well for us at decent each way prices on his last two outings and I think he is still well handicapped. Ajman King is the obvious danger but the bookies haven’t missed him and he isn’t much better than 6/4 in a 12 runner handicap race. That low price gives us a decent angle with Banditry though who I think could run Ajman King close.
4.30pm Epsom – Investeq Oaks
I was quite taken by the run from GIVE AND TAKE in winning the Musidora at York last time out. She had to be kept up to her work from a good way out but she finished well and looked like she would be ideally suited to the increased distance here. If she was trained by Aidan O’Brien she would be half this price.
5.50pm Epsom
CLUBBABLE won nicely last time out and looks like a horse who has really improved over the winter. I expect him to go close again today with conditions to suit and again we are getting a nice each way price about him.

John, I read an article about cocaine dealing at bigger race meetings in England. One drug dealer claims to have made around 200k in a year from dealing before, during and after race meetings. More worryingly, the article claims that many prominent owners are consumers of this devil, that is cocaine.
