The Voice of Value: Get the Bucks on Favorito

I CAN'T believe that Cheltenham is all over. It’s been an absolute whirlwind of a week. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many horses placed in one week which was frustrating at times but at least we had each way bets on most of them.

The highlights of the week were probably watching Presenting Percy stoat up and cheering on Remiluc into a close second place at 50/1. Those are the moments that make it special and have us coming back year after year.

The racing continues today with some decent action and I have one that I fancy at Kempton and also two picks for the Midlands National at Uttoxeter.

3.15 Kempton

A decent quality chase here with quite a few horses that are just below the quality required for Cheltenham.

It was nice to see Paul Nicholls get a couple of winners on the last day of the Festival and I think his good fortune can continue here with FAVORITO BUCKS. The horse has been quite disappointing since coming over from France but finally worked out how to win last time. He hasn’t gone up by much in the handicap and I think he can go from strength to strength now.

3.35 Uttoxeter

Henry Daly is having a fabulous season and he looks to have a really strong hand in this Midlands National with both Back To The Thatch and ARTFUL COBBLER.

Back to the Thatch fell last time out in the Eider Chase when I had tipped him for the win. He was travelling really well but I think his price is a bit short this time for a horse who fell last time out so I am passing him over.  I prefer Artful Cobbler who has improved each time to win three races in a row at increasingly longer distances. This is further again and it could bring out even more improvement. The ground is no worry I can see him going very close.

My second choice in the race is slightly more speculative at a bigger price. Regular readers will have backed REGAL FLOW at Taunton on Monday when I tipped him to win. He is a staying chaser who seems to be progressing. Regardless of how well he won that day a staying chase takes a lot out of a horse so it is surprising to see him turned out again so quickly but Bob Tucker his trainer must think that the horse is doing really well at home and that he is able to take his chance today. I think that is the explanation for his bigger price so we might be getting some great value if Regal Flow is no worse for wear.

• 3.35 Uttoxeter – Artful Cobbler – 2 points e/w at 7/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power (both paying 5 places)
• 3.35 Uttoxeter – Regal Flow -1 point e/w at 25/1 with Betfred, Paddy Power and Betfair (all paying 5 places)
