MY selective approach worked nicely last weekend with my only pick of the weekend bolting up in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown at 15/2.

The flat season is kicking into top gear now with the 2,000 Guineas today at Newmarket. I quite like Elarqam in that but his price isn’t anything special and with the strong Ballydoyle team coming over as usual I’m not recommending a bet.

I do however have two nicely handicapped horses from the notebook running today that I fancy a bet on.

The first is BANDITRY in the 1.50pm at Newmarket for the Ian Williams stable. Williams is a master at switching them between hurdles and the flat and targeting the right races for his horses. Banditry looks to have a strong chance here after a lengthy break. The break doesn’t concern me when it comes to Williams’ horses and with Banditry in particular and I think he will be raring to go.

The second pick for today is ELUSIVE HEIGHTS ridden by my favourite jockey Daniel Tudhope in the 3.05pm at Wetherby. The horse was a classy beast over in Ireland I think he should have plenty of scope for improvement for his new stable over here. Tudhope in the saddle is the icing on the cake.

Recommended Bets:

1.50 Newmarket – Banditry – 1pt e/w at 22/1 with Bet365, BetVictor, Unibet

3.05 Wetherby – Elusive Heights – 1pt e/w at 12/1 with Ladbrokes, William Hill, Bet365
