Lucky 15s now available on the Tote for the first time ever.
Cairnzy has offered to cover this Sunday's Lucky 15 bet, with Rizz still covering the main thread as usual.
Rizz will be disappointed in how his selections performed on Saturday, with all four running considerably under par. Saturday racing as we know, is extremely tough, but fingers crossed, we can get the ball rolling again tomorrow.
I had some free time this evening, so I offered to cover Sunday's lucky 15 thread and give Rizz a break.
Diamond Ambition 3/1 – Fontwell 12.22
For my first selection on Sunday, I've gone with the Skelton-trained Diamond Ambition. The opener at Fontwell looks like a tight little affair, but I thought Diamond Ambition had the most scope for improvement in this field and looks more than capable of getting his head in front if progressing again from his most recent outing.
Diamond Ambition has progressed nicely for each of his runs, and his most recent second at Worcester was a step in the right direction. My selection battled on well in the run-in last time out, and I think this slight step up in trip should ease out a little bit more from him.
The recent Worcester outing was his season reappearance so he is more than entitled to come on for the run and looks a fair bet at 3/1 with jockey Tristan Durrell claiming his usual three pounds, and also arrives on the back of a winner yesterday for the same connections.
Boombawn 10/3 – Aintree 2.55
I think Imperial Saint is a worthy favorite, but at the prices, I liked the Skelton-trained Boombawn. My selection is returning to a handicap contest on what looks like a more than workable mark. Boombawn is used to running in higher grades than this, and he brings some decent form to the table, including a Grade 2 victory at Wincanton last year, as well as multiple good efforts at Sandown and Kempton.
Aintree as a track will suit Boombawn's style of running, and with the Skelton yard in decent nick at present, he looks sure to run a big race.
There are a few familiar faces on show, such as Hitman and Ahoy Senor, but both of those horses are better over further, and this looks more of a run out for those sorts with better races being aimed at in the future.
La Isla Mujeres 3/1 – Saint -Cloud 11.26
Trainer Paddy Twomey sends his talented filly La Isla Mujeres across to France to contest in the Group 3 Prix Bell de Nuit. I don't follow France racing, but I did glance through some of the form, and I don't believe this as competitive as the market would suggest. I was surprised to see my selection as big as 3/1 for this race, and I think it's a great price to get involved in.
I read online that Paddy Twomey had planned to run La Isla Mujeres in the Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot, but with the ground conditions unsuitable, those plans were quickly scrapped.
La Isla Mujeres is a filly who very much prefers softer ground. My selection arrives here fresh after just two runs — second on quick ground at Down Royal in May, then an impressive three-and-a-half-length win in the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway last month.
My selection steps up slightly in trip ( 2f), which I think will help her improve again, and this looks like a good move from Twomey, who tends to place his horse well.
Big Ticket 2/1 – Aintree 2.20
Big Ticket will come with a risk, having only had one career start to date, but he made a big impression on debut when hacking up in a p2p by 16L. My selection was snatched up for £155,000 on the back of that p2p win and has joined the inform N&W Twiston-Davies yard, who are currently operating at a 25% S/R with 8 winners from last 25 runners.
There are others in this field open to improvement, with the Skelton-trained In The Age being the most obvious one, but I thought Big Ticket was the horse with the most scope and looks sure to improve if ready to go for his new yard.
