Rizz has left me in charge of Saturday's Lucky 15 bet, but he will return tomorrow night for Sunday's card.
As expected, there is plenty of competitive racing on offer this weekend. Fingers crossed we can land some profit in what looks a tough day at the office.
Cairnzy's Lucky 15 Tips
Warrant Holder 15/8 – Newmarket 4.30
This contest looks very tricky to solve, and the current market tells you all you need to know, with not a lot separating the top three in the market.
I opted for the Royal runner in Warrant Holder, who looks to have solid claims based on his two runs to date. My selection has eased slightly in the market but still shades favouritism at 15/8. My selection does have to overcome a layoff, having not been seen since winning a Class 5 affair at Newcastle back in March. With that said, the Gosdens have enjoyed a decent flat season this term and I fully expect Warrant Holder to be fit and ready to go.
Warrant Holder arguably brings the best form to this contest, improving massively from his debut effort to get his head in front at Newcastle over 1m2. The step up in trip seemingly unlocked plenty as he has Rahiebb over two lengths back in second, and that one has since gone on to finish second in the St Leger.
Liberty Lane 11/2 – Ayr 1.50
I see my good friend Rizz has gone for the already well-supported Almeric in this contest. His write up on that selection is pretty much bang on the button, and he probably is the horse to beat. With that said, I thought that at the prices, Karl Burkes Liberty Lane was worth a punt.
My selection is versatile ground-wise, but I think he is better seen on a slower surface which he should get this time around. A repeat performance of this win at Listed level last May would have him bang there but he does have to bounce back after two below par displays.
Rock On Thunder 3/1 – Newbury 3:15
This is a poor renewal of the Mill Reef if I'm being brutally honest. I was initially surprised to see Rock On Thunder as your third favourite for this contest, as I wasn't fully taken by Into The Sky and Words Of Truth.
If anything, Rock On Thunder brings easily the best form to this contest, particularly when looking at his last two outings. My selection beat all besides Wise Approach in a Listed contest at this very same course in July and he was then thrown into the Class 1 Group 2 Gimcrack at York, which saw him again beat all besides the very progressive Lifeplan ( went down by 2L ). I think a repeat performance would see him tough to beat.
Apples Jane 7/4 – Navan 5.30
I think connections of Apples Jane will be incredibly frustrated if she is unable to win this contest, having had plenty of recent experience under the belt compared to the rest of this field.
She of course, is nicely bred, being out of the well-known Apples Jade, but things haven't exactly gone to plan thus far. She went close on debut at Naas back in February, which left plenty to build on, but she seemingly took a backwards step when finishing a tame fourth at the same course the following month. My selection again finished quite poorly at Kilbeggan on her following outing before taking a step back in the right direction last time out when finishing second behind a well-backed Willie Mullins favourite at Wexford.
