There are a couple of decent meetings on Saturday, so hopefully, we can find some value in today's Lucky 15.
Pierre Bonnard 7/2 – Newmarket 1.50
Even though you'd think that Wayne Lordan would be on the big horses, as he has been at Ballydoyle for a long time, it appears that Soumillon is getting the Ryan Moore rides. Pierre Bonnard comes across like another very good horse, and I think Soumillon is on board the better horse from Aidan's yard.
He won on his second start in a maiden, looking like a much better horse than he did on debut. They are stepping him up in trip to 10f from the mile, and based on his pedigree, this looks to be a positive move. He is by Camelot, out of a mare who stayed this trip and slightly further, and has produced a strong stayer in Crepe Suzette.
Hankelow 9/4 – Newmarket 2.25
It's probably a tad risky taking on the Godolphin and Aidan O'Brien horses, but I am a big fan of Hankelow, and I cannot believe he got beaten last time out when I tipped him up on the main thread.
He looked like he was going to win that race all day long and was ahead of the winner before and after the line, but didn't get it done where it mattered. I think he is a very talented horse, and Karl Burke knows what time of day it is when it comes to these juvenile races and knowing whether he has the horse to win it or not.
This won't be an easy race, arguably stronger than last time, but I think he can improve.
Alfa Kellenic 11/2 – Newmarket 4.50
I was a big fan of this filly last year when trained by Craig Lidster. She was a real improver last year in her three-year-old campaign, rising from a 70-rated handicapper to winning the Ayr Silver Cup off a mark of 93.
I tipped her up for this race last year, but she did not enjoy the soft ground when sent off as the 11/10F. For whatever reason, she has only been on the track once this year, which came in the Ayr Gold Cup a few weeks ago. She didn't run great, probably due to a mixture of a long layoff and the soft ground, but I think in this fairly average field, if she were to bounce back to form, she could easily win this.
Terrorise 12/1 – York 4.30
I tipped up Terrorise in a big field staying handicap during the York Ebor Festival over a month ago. I felt that he had a good chance despite doing his best work in lower competition, but it didn't work out well. He has raced since, in a Class 3, but struggled again. Today, he is racing in a Class 4, which is the level he managed to put in an impressive performance off a 6lb lower mark.
Hopefully, back in calmer waters at a track he has won at before, this is the recipe to get him back winning.
