I DREW a blank last week for the first time in 7 weeks but it was a disappointment nonetheless.

The racing is better quality this week and I've had a look at all 7 races on the ITV coverage. Have a listen to the podcast where we review all of the races in detail:

1.50pm Haydock

This is a great race to get the ITV coverage off and running.  I fancy WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF as a decent value win bet after he fell last time out with the race at his mercy. As I mention on the podcast I also think that IRISH ROE is an each way value bet after a nice win last time out.  We can now get double figure odds so I'm having two bets in this race.

2.05pm Ascot

I can't wait to see this race.  I think Altior will have the ability to beat Cyrname and I think he could be just as good over this trip as he is over 2 miles.  4/6 is a fair price but doesn't rate as a value bet for me so I'll probably not have a bet in the race.

2.25pm Haydock

This is a cracking race and the one that I like is STONEY MOUNTAIN for Henry Daly. He's an improving horse and has only gone up 4lb for his win last time which is fair with Daly's stable having a good start to the season.

2.40pm Ascot

Any one from four could win this I think but the value bet looks to be LE PATRIOTE to me.  He goes well first time out is a course and distance winner and will enjoy the ground.  If you can get a decent price on Saturday morning using Bet365's each way extra option then take three places and do that.  Otherwise it's a win bet.

3.00pm Haydock

I am having a tentative win bet on FRODON given the prices in the hope that he will benefit from his run last time out.  Bristol De Mai and Lostintranslation are tough opponents though and this looks like it could be another peach of a race.

3.20pm Ascot

This is probably the best race of the day with 11 runners and a case can be made for most of them.  I am throwing two darts in the shape of CAID DU LIN and VANITEUX.  Regular followers will know that we landed a touch with Vaniteux at 33-1 when he finished second to Saint Calvados last time out when  we had first and second in the race and he is a big price again considering his return to form.  Caid Du Lin is a course and distance winner who is fit and well and will enjoy the soft ground.  I was surprised to see 14-1 available on him.

3.40pm Haydock

This looks like it will be a gruelling race over 3.5 miles and the unexposed stayer KNOW THE SCORE looks like the perfect answer to me.  He won nicely last time and should have plenty more to come.
