It was a great day for the racing thread at MFT. My NAP and only selection of the day Gold Medal won nicely under Ryan Moore.
He broke well and positioned him nicely along the rail and kicked off around the bend to land the spoils. The gamble on Twelfth Knight didn’t pay off as Hollie Doyle was one of the first jockeys off the bridle and when I saw that I was even more confident.
Rizzel topped the day off with a beautiful 16/1 winner! They don’t come too often and hopefully you all got on our selections and gained some profit from the bookmakers.
Saturday has come around again and as usual it’s as competitive as you like. Hopefully I can continue the winning form in to tomorrow.
My first selection is at:
1:32 Kelso
I really fancy the chances of New Lodge to overcome his penalty and upset current market favourite Richmond Lake.
Alan King's beautifully bred 5yr old won a grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham in January. Although that race was dampened by the exit of Hillcrest who, on paper, was the likely winner, I still thought the manner in which New Lodge won the race was still something to be impressed about.
He showed inexperience that day which you could argue is to be expected given he hasn’t raced much. He managed to pull himself into a nice challenging position but hung badly in the straight. He still stayed on strongly to win in the end and if he’s came on from that run and can be a bit more focused when running to the line I think he’s got a massive chance on Saturday.
My last selection comes on the flat at Lingfield where I had success today.
2:34 Lingfield
A small 6-runner field, class 4 race but still very competitive on paper. Straight away I like the look of Obsidian Knight, not just because he’s unexposed but more so the way in which he won over C&D last month.
He benefitted massively for the step up in trip to 1m4 and now sent handicapping I can see this horse easing out even more improvement for connections.
Mark Crehan takes the ride tomorrow, a flat jockey who I rate quite highly. He takes off a further 3lb which of course helps and improves the horses chance of coming out on top.
Good luck!
