I’M CALLING last Saturday a face wash after my double with the two short priced favourites landed for us on a day when the bigger priced ‘value’ bets let us down. Both my tips in the big race looked good coming to two out but faded badly on the run in.
Once again this week Selectabet and I discuss all of the live Saturday ITV Racing on the podcast. Have a listen if you can and I’ve also summarised my thoughts below:
1.50 Cheltenham
I think that RAMSES DE TEILLEE is a strong favourite for the race. He stays well and enjoys heavy ground and although it’s a big ask to carry top weight in these circumstances I think he is up against some exposed rivals.
2.25 Cheltenham
The Bet Victor Gold Cup is the highlight of the day and there are plenty with a chance. For that reason I’m not going for one of the favourites but I’m looking for some each way value instead. HIGHWAY ONE O ONE is a progressive chaser with plenty of scope for improvement and he enjoys soft/heavy ground more than most.
2.45 Lingfield
This is a race that is all set up for Lord North to win it. The bookies are on to that though so as things stand with odds of around 8/13 it is NO BET for me. If the price drifts to anything close to even money it will become a bet for me so keep an eye out tomorrow morning. 3.00 Cheltenham
This promises to be an exciting race and the one I really fancy is HEAR NO EVIL for the Skelton team. This has been his target for a while so we can forgive him a mediocre run on seasonal reappearance. I expect this young progressive hurdler to go very close.
3.15 Lingfield
As I explain on the podcast CORINTHIA KNIGHT is a rock solid course and distance winner who is only rated one pound less in the official ratings than the favourite. We get a nice double figure price about this one who will be primed for action with conditions ideal for him.
3.30 Cheltenham
The last race of the day on the ITV Racing coverage rates as NO BET for me. It’s a competitive one but there is nothing that stands out to me as a potential value bet so I’m giving it a swerve.
