It’s been a while since I’ve posted, more so because the jumps is back and it’s not really my strong point but with my favourite flat horse in Strad being recently retired, Frodon is the last one standing of horses who I have a soft spot for so I couldn’t help but jump on and give him a mention.
Wincanton 1:50 – Frodon 5/2
As Rizz has already mentioned, I too was surprised that connections have opted for this race rather than Down Royal but Frodons presence in this definitely makes it a better spectacle and probably makes it the race of the day in my opinion.
Carrying top weight is never ideal.. especially against the opposition that he’ll face today but if there’s a horse you’d fancy to do so it’s Frodon. He’s been dropped 6lb for his last mid pack finish at Cheltenham and you could argue that’s maybe a bit generous…
One of the main things that I love about this horse is that 9 times out of 10 always give you a run for your money.
Bryony gets a proper tune out of this him when she asks for a good jump he answers, when he’s asked to knuckle down he does so. I just hope the forecast rain doesn’t hinder his chances too much but I’ll be cheering him on either way!
Doncaster 3:13 – Metier 10/1 EW
Rated 144 over jumps, Metier gets in here of a flat mark of 89 and I think that makes him a cracking each way play in this race.
This horse loves the mud and given the ground is currently on the heavy side and more forecast rain is due that should help is cause even further.
Metier can and likes to go from the front and I think that’s the tactics that jockey Saffie Osbourne will go for on Metier tomorrow and make this a real stamina test. If not to the front at least racing prominent and up with the pace.
Also worth mentioning that Saffie claims 3lb which is another positive.
