GREAT GRANNY Geraldine Hughes, who pocketed £154,000 on the Scoop6 last weekend, was unsuccessful in her bid to land a further £702,010.
Hughes, 67, opted for Johnb's tip Merry King in the big race but AP McCoy’s mount was soon on the back foot after being interfered with by a faller and was pulled up five fences from home.
This means £740,861 rolls over in the bonus, along with £90,650 in the win fund, which went down when Kaylif Aramis took the fifth leg at Ascot.
Despite missing out on the big bonus Hughes said: “I’ve had an unbelievable day. Everyone has been so kind. I've won a life-changing sum of money and and being a big Elvis fan I had to pick Merry King.
“I’m feeling all shook up so I’m going to enjoy my £154,000 for just £2. I want to thank Fred Done for his generosity and everyone at Haydock Park today for their hospitality.”
A total of £259,002 was bet into the pools and there were 37 winners of the £1400 place dividend.

Meanwhile, the sponsors have trimmed Captain Chris to 25-1 (from 33-1) for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after he powered away with the Betfair Ascot Chase.
Captain Chris kicked 19 lengths clear of the runner-up and the manner of his victory could persuade his trainer Philip Hobbs to have another crack at the Gold Cup in March.
Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Captain Chris was in a different league to his rivals. If he can reproduce a similar level of form at Cheltenham he will be a very interesting outsider for the Betfred Gold Cup.”
Bobs Worth remains the sponsor's 9-4 favourite ahead of Silviniaco Conti at 7-2.
