ONE lucky punter, who pocketed £413,696 on last weekend’s Scoop6, will bid to add another £189,869 to his haul in Saturday’s bonus race – the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate – at Newcastle.
Furniture shop owner Mike Brown selected six winners last week to land the £163,696 win fund and also picked up a £250,000 bonus prize as he placed his £576 winning bet via totepool.com.
Mike, 53, of Canton, Cardiff, previously won the Scoop6 exactly 13 years ago before going on to collect a share of a £200,000 bonus when Archduke Ferdinand won the Northumberland Plate.
If successful in the bonus race Mike will take his lifetime Scoop6 winnings beyond the £1m mark. Mike will be a guest of totepool at Newcastle racecourse tomorrow.
He said: “I’m so lucky to have another chance of a massive win on the Scoop6. It can’t be a coincidence the bonus race is Northumberland Plate and I think it must be a sign.
“I’m concentrating on low-drawn horses. I’ve whittled it down to about six or seven at the moment but I won’t make my final selection until I’ve checked the weather in the morning.”
totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths added: “It’s exactly 13 years since Mike won the Scoop6 and astonishingly he’s going for another huge bonus in the Northumberland Plate. He managed to find the winner last time so here’s hoping it’s his lucky race!”
This weekend’s win fund is expected to be worth around £100,000 and includes racing from Newcastle and Newmarket. All six legs are due to be broadcast live on Channel 4.
