I mentioned in the comments yesterday that it was nice to get some decent profit on a Saturday. My past record for weekends has been woeful, I'm not going to hide it, so it was nice to get some good-priced winners. Hopefully, some of you got on them.
Carlisle 2:25 – Gandhi Maker 2/1 (1pt)
This is a proper competitive Class 2 race, which is a Class 4 in terms of quality, but it's a series finale so the prize is £15k and the Class is raised to Class 2.
The owner of Gandhi Maker was heavily scrutinised on social media this week when his horse unseated the rider at the last fence when in control and was 1/5F. I thought it was harsh, as when you look at the head-on camera angle, the horse jumped it poorly and jinked. He'll be wanting to put that behind him and win a decent pot with his horse Gandhi Maker.
This race has clearly been the season-long target for him. He has run in three of the Go North Man Series Qualifiers, which saw him win two and finish as runner-up on his last start. He wasn't bad in defeat that day, he just couldn't live with an inform rival, plus I think they were keeping a little for themselves with this race in mind. The trainer, Stuart Coltherd won this race last year and he used the same two races that Gandhi Maker ran in before he came and won this pot with Wheelbahri, which bodes well in my opinion.
He might not be in love with today's ground, but I think he might have the class to overcome it.
I am convinced this horse is better than his current mark of 104. His PTP form has worked out nicely with plenty in behind being around the 120s, so he should be able to win this before going onto some better races.
Carlisle 3:35 – Storm Tiger 9/1 (1pt ew)
Another Series Finale which looks like a competitive renewal, but I tipped up Storm Tiger last time out and I thought he should've won that day if it wasn't for Nathan Moscrop, so based on that I think he is on a nice handicap mark and can land a nice prize.
This lad is very unexposed as a chaser with just two runs to his name, so there's plenty of improvement to come, whether or not he's ready to show it in a deep race for the grade I'm not sure, but his odds are very appealing and make him worth a chance. Nathan Moscrop is a usual rider for Rebecca Menzies, so would've had the pick of the two horses (same owner as Storm Tiger), so the fact he's opted for Storm gives me plenty of confidence, especially knowing that his ownermate is well-fancied for the race (second fav).
I've thought he's jumped well as a two-runner novice up until the last fence at Musselburgh last time out, where I thought Nathan should've forced the horse into committing to the fence, instead he tried to be cute and let him pop over, thinking he had plenty in hand, which he probably did, but that scuppered his chances. This horse seems to be okay on heavy going, so the ground isn't a concern. He's on a nice weight, though he is 4lb out of the handicap that doesn't bother me, I think he is a nice ew player in this.
Carlisle 4:10 – Saddler's Bay 13/2 (0.5pt ew)
I'm desperately hoping that there will be no NRs in this field as it currently is 3 places, which makes Saddler's Bay a play in this.
Tom Gretton's lightly raced 6yo son of Black Sam Bellamy is worth a chance now he's upped in trip to a real stamina test. He has been running over shorter trips, which doesn't suit him on his pedigree, so it's of notice that he's come all the way to Carlisle to have a crack over this new trip which should be right up his street.
He's partnered the horse up with Brian Hughes which instantly catches the eye with Tom having a good record when Brian rides for him. 8 wins from 37 runs is a 22% SR and he has had a further 14 finish in the places, recording a profit of +33.13 to level stakes. This horse hasn't run particularly bad in his races but has always looked like he needs a trip, staying on in the dying stages, so I'm happy enough to have a play on him at the prices, my fingers are crossed no horses are pulled out.
Exeter 3:52 – Young Bull 5/1 (1pt ew)
Though Young Bull isn't really deemed to be an each-way price, I'll be playing him that way as there are obvious doubts over the trip and stamina today, so it's the safer option than going on the nose for the win.
There have been rumours circulating around the racing scene for quite a while about this horse and that he is on a good handicap mark when they decide to go up to the marathon trips, and here is his day in the spotlight. Harry Whittington has finally put him into a race over a trip which should suit him. He has a great staying pedigree, with the Sire producing horses like Elegant Escape and Next Destination, so stamina should be his forte.
He has been entered in the Eider Chase at Newcastle but was withdrawn, and was entered in a 3m race at Sandown a couple of weeks ago but didn't take his chance in that either. We've had the Midlands National just gone by, so it makes me think that they fancy their chances in this race, as they've kept hold of him for a reason, and they might think they've found a nice opportunity for him. The ground shouldn't be an issue and they've reached for the cheekpieces, which could offer some encouragement at the trip as well.

Hi everyone Get Stuck In is set to race again on Wednesday. Dropped into a class 5 over 1 mile again, this time at Kempton where he ran last autumn. He isn’t 100% sure to run but I’m going to update you when I know.
He has been really well since he raced last week can’t wait to see him again. I’ll update Wednesday how he is on the day for you all
Cheers, Chris.
Yeah we have just entered him in the class 3 also over 7f on the same card. Not sure where he will exactly go at the moment it’s up to the owners who have a great record with 3 year olds on the AW they know where to send them

Piaff Bubbles 2/1 – Carlisle 4.10
Haven’t had a bet in ages but have it on good authority that this horse will take all the beating so have dusted off the cobwebs to place a bet. Should be on a hat-trick today but expected to make up for neck defeat 10 days ago. Do as you wish with this info and, as always, good luck 👍
Hold the note 20-1 🤣🏇.
Wish I’d done the Ewan Whillams double with topkapi star 12-1 ☹️
Nice shooting ! Yeah it was a bit like that with Rizzels yesterday . There was a decent accumulator to be had if you managed to pick the right combo from the thread . It is a mugs game but will be back again 2 Moro for more torment . I saw a load of scratch cards in the bookies yesterday haha double the misery !
