We had one winner from two selections on Friday, which is not bad going. The early prices of 4/1 disappeared quickly, so hopefully, you got 5/2 or slightly more which were around for quite a while.
I'm pretty disappointed with the racing for a Saturday other than the big Group 1. There are some Class 1 races floating around but they don't really catch my attention so that being said it's just the one selection for me today.
Ascot 3:35
This is one of the best races of the flat season with the best horses turning up to contest the King George, which is run over 12f. This year's renewal is a cracker and you get the horses you want to turn up with the Irish Derby winner, previous Arc Winner, Oaks runner-up as well as multiple Group 1 winners.
The horse which I have fell on is the favourite, WESTOVER, which is always deemed to be the boring pick, but I think he is the best horse in this race off today's weights and the probability that he is going to progress even more. His Irish Derby win isn't going to be the best form, but he won that race in a canter and showcased his talent in front of all racing fans to see after what had appeared to be an unlucky run in the Epsom Derby. The way he travelled through the race at the Curragh was very eyecatching and he put it to bed with a nice turn of foot.
Emily Upjohn will have punters supporting her today as she was deemed to be unlucky, but I don't think she was that unlucky as the winner came from a similar starting point. She was expected to run in the Irish Oaks last weekend but they had problems getting her to Ireland so have decided to come to this, which I totally respect and it makes the race a lot more interesting. Do I think she's good enough to win this? I don't think so, but it wouldn't be a total shock to see her run a big race.
Mishriff is another horse who will have his supporters on the back of his big run in the Coral-Eclipse but I don't think he will win this on the back of his 2nd in this race last year behind Adayar. Adayar was a good horse last year and is definitely a Group 1 animal, and I think Westover is the same, so I find it hard to see Mishriff beating him especially with giving away the weight.
Torquator Tasso will run a good race but this race isn't about winning for connections as they have the Arc in their sights, so this will be a run under their belt for their attempt at retaining the Arc.

I’ve been very underwhelmed by this year’s classic crop, Westover would have won at Epsom but for a shit ride and won the Irish and was put to sleep by some older horses today.
Pyledriver is as tough as old boots but is he really top top drawer ??,
the arc winner torquator tasso runs best in soft/heavy like when he won the arc so to come 2nd here surprised me
Mishriff and Broome have the odd big run in them but shouldn’t be beating the two 3 year olds with the weight allowance.
I thought this was a race to watch and not bet on, but like a lot thought Westover would win today.
On the flip side I’m pleased for connections of pyledriver and well done them for not selling to the big stables when they could have cashed in, today’s £700.000 prize justifies their loyalty 👍

Westover ran his race before even going in the stalls then was always going a stride to fast god knows what Ryan Moore was doing on Broome taking him on that early basically setting the race up for another front runner who settled lovely behind them in Piledriver.
Mishriff missed the start again but doesn’t look the same horse as last year.
Arc winner ran a great race on ground far to fast but never looked likely to win.
Piledriver deserved it great for owners,trainer & PJ McDonald 👍
