The day started off well with the well-supported Venetia Williams horse winning on the bridle, but then it got worse as the day progressed. Two horses were in the places, one fell when trying to get into contention and the Christian Williams horse was shocking, yet again backing the wrong Williams horse at Fakenham for the second week in a row.
Warwick 1:30 – One Eye On Vegas 25/1 (0.5pt EW)
This race will be mainly revolved around the two with the recent hurdling wins, which is Act Of Authority and Soldierofthestorm. Both have shown a decent attitude to racing, running well in decent enough bumpers, but I don't think they are bulletproof in novice company when carrying a penalty.
I don't think this race is a strong affair, I'd say only a couple of others could pose a threat to the two I've already mentioned. One is the Sam England horse, Jeteye, but you'll have to watch the market for this horse as he is owned by some well-known gamblers, so if the money is down, expect a big run, but I think they'll be saving him for the handicaps. I landed on the Stuart Edmunds's horse, One Eye On Vegas. I think this horse has a superb chance if he is much fitter and jumps better than he did on his hurdles debut.
This horse is clearly a horse who has had complications in his short career. He has only been seen twice, once in a bumper which has worked out fantastically and the other was on hurdles debut after a 953-day break. The bumper form saw him finish 3rd/6 just 5.75L behind Washington. The winner was a very good bumper horse for Olly Murphy and was rated as high as 129 over hurdles. The 2nd in the bumper race was Marble Sands, this horse is rated 138 over hurdles and 142 over fences and is a Class 1 winner. Lebowski was behind them in that bumper race, he is also rated in the 120s.
It was evident that One Eye On Vegas needed that run at Carlisle. He travelled nicely, which was a surprise as his jumping was incredibly poor, and at the ones he got over safely, he spent too much time in the air. But, it was a nice debut and he was in contention until 3 out where his gas tank completely emptied, which was definitely due to the time away from the track.
Ffos Las 2:15 – Georges Saint 9/4 (2pt)
When the main jockey for a stable isn't on board a horse it isn't inspiring, but Charlie Deutsch heads to Warwick for two rides for Venetia which one being a bigger pot than the race Georges Saint is in, so it's not a complete shock. Ned Fox takes the ride on this horse, and he is a more than capable rider and claims 5lbs, so I still think this can win.
You have some chase debutantes or horses with not much chase experience in this race, so you have to be careful as they often come into races well handicapped but I don't think this is a particularly strong race, and not as strong as the one which Georges Saint ran in last time out at Chepstow. That was his seasonal reappearance and I thought he ran well, but looked in need of the run, which seems a bit of a rarity at the moment for the Venetia stable. He was 2/4 over fences in France, and you could see why when he ran lto as his jumping was great for the most part, but he was just tired late in the race.
With that run under his belt, and the handicapper dropping him 2lbs, plus Ned taking off a further 5lbs I think he is well-handicapped and has a great chance in this race. Walkinthewoods is one I'm aware of as Evan Williams does well with horses off low marks and then sending them chasing. That horse has had a recent run, but I wouldn't say based on his hurdles form he is well-handicapped and he won't be used to this level of race.
Ffos Las 3:25 – Blazing Hartingo 12/1 (0.5pt Win)
As I just mentioned with Evan Williams horses, I'll be having a play on Blazing Hartingo on chase debut.
This horse has shown very little in four hurdles races, including handicap debut, but they send him chasing off a rock-bottom mark of 71. Adam Wedge takes the ride and I think that's very interesting considering Evan has Pageant Material who already has placed chase experience. That horse is normally ridden by Evan's daughter, Isabel, but Adam is the main stable jockey and if he wanted to ride that horse I'm sure he could've, but he's opted for the bottom weight Blazing Hartingo.
This horse didn't manage to win a PTP race but was 2nd on his sol Irish PTP before unseating on his UK PTP debut, what's interesting is that he was then sent off as 4/5F for his final PTP start which he did get pulled up in, but to be sent off that short on the back of an unseat shows that he does possess a fair bit of ability. Evan has gone for the first time cheekpieces which is another interesting angle to this horse. I'll be playing a 0.5pt win as he'll either win or be dreadful, I can't imagine there will be an in-between, and for the sake of 0.5pt on the EW where there could be a NR and then be 2 places on offer, I'll take a chance on a straight win.

‘Betfred promotion money back as free bet if 2nd or 3rd’
Few here but sticking with my gut rather than obvious favourite and looking into it Trainer and Jockey strike rate is 44% over last 45 days and his first run was up there with the other 2 above him in the market so bit of improvement and hopefully top 3 at the very wirst. Avalon Girl for Joe Sharp is better but not so good with horses making debut.
Been good these Betfred promotions lately since someone pointed me towards them and only bookie I see that does a few races everyday. Zia Park pick won last night and other was 3rd.
Todays 2 are tough with Active Duty in race 3 just 2nd so money back as free that I’ll tackle tomorrow and turn £8 into £800 I’m sure!! ?
