The Cork National was won by Captain Kangaroo who jumped much better this time around compared to his previous attempts over fences, winning at odds of 11/1. I thought the 7lb claimer gave him a belter of a ride, giving him plenty of space to see his fences as he tracked the front two for the most part before kicking on before the final bend. It looks like a fair amount of you got on, which is always nice to see!
If I'm honest, nothing really caught my eye for Monday's racing other than a couple of short-priced horses, which isn't ideal as a tipster but I will be playing a small double. The odds aren't great, but they should win. I understand this won't be for many people.
Kempton 2:00
For the first leg of the extremely short double is TWIG, who was a winner for us around a month ago when winning at Warwick over fences. He didn't win as easily as I was hoping for that day, but he ran a blinder when finishing 2nd in a competitive Class 2 handicap at Cheltenham behind Shearer who seems like a nice progressive horse from the Paul Nicholls yard.
It was a surprise to see him running over hurdles that day and I thought he had little to no chance, but he did extremely well. That was his first ever run over hurdles and based on that performance he could have a nice career over the smaller obstacles, and based on that run he should be extremely difficult to beat now running in novice company. This race doesn't look crazy strong, with horses coming from bumpers or showing modest form over hurdles, and as the odds suggest he is the one to beat. He ran to an RPR of 131 at Cheltenham and if repeating anywhere near that level of form it should be a stroll in the park.
Carlisle 2:50
For the second leg, I'm going for TOMMY'S OSCAR who made a great start to his career over fences when winning a match race at Carlisle, beating my selection in the race Geromino who was in receipt of a lot of weight, which made the performance that much better.
Tommy's Oscar jumped extremely well for his first start over fences and after watching that he could be a serious contender for some big prizes as the season goes on. If repeating the form of his last run, which was on seasonal reappearance so his fitness should be better now, he should be extremely difficult to beat when you consider the 4lb weight he receives at a minimum.
You have some nice horses in this race, so I don't expect it to be a walk in the park, with Red Rookie being a big danger, but with him running on seasonal reappearance he will probably need the run.
Good racing for a Monday with a couple of class 2 races knocking about.

Just 5 run and he is wrongly the outsider of the 5 in my opinion.

5th in the grand national this will no doubt be a warm up for a chase down the road.
Though this is a hurdle he has good hurdles form back in the day and the 12 stone he carries may stop him winning.
The soft ground will suit though and I’m hoping some of the hurdlers get stuck in the mud especially as 3 of the other 6 are having their seasonal debuts.
Posted this on yesterday’s thread and fiddlerontheroof is now 5-1 so hopefully the money has been in the right place 🏇
Cornerstone lad now 20-1 SP which isn’t a good sign ☹️
Rizzle…I’m glad you tuned in as Flightline is something special and by the sounds of it will be training and racing again next season! 👏
In a great strange world for racing Flightline and say Baaed would race each other once on each of there favoured surfaces and preferred distances, along with any other horse that’s owner fancied a it’s chances. Or something along they lines but pie in the sky stuff obviously.
Flightline is the best horse in the world for dirt anyway and when you see how firm the USA tracks can be I wonder if he’s ever tried turf at home? 🤔
Could he flop that much on it?
Something thT might sound daft and he’s no need to go on turf but with that dominance and MORE to come id give him a bash at the for Triple Crown next year!
Sure the owners of Flightline would laugh at that but just a thought.

Flightline was offically retired yesterday afternoon.
Just reading that Deb2000 on Racing Post! 🙄😂
Oh well onwards.
Comments after it sounded like they were wanting to keep on with him.

Carlisle Abandoned ☹️
WOLVERHAMPTON A.W.
5.00 – The Big Board
6.00 – Irregular Warfare
6.30 – Red Hat Eagle
7.00 – Visibility
Sorry to say, but with Carlisle being abandoned there’s nothing I can add at this moment in time due to being at my day job.
Nothing really stood out to me, and betting on the Kempton horse is now pointless as a single. They did get a lot of rain overnight ☹️
Carlisle being abandoned is a let down. I’ve just done a couple of small stakes placepots at Kempton and Wolverhampton. Very low key Monday I’m afraid.
Invictus De Brion – Kempton 12.50 – 4/1
I was meant to put this up earlier but got bogged down with other things.
I think this horse will run very well and I have hopes for the win.
He has bern schooling well at home and comes into in tip top shape. He gets 14 lbs from the current 2nd fav if you factor in his win over him who by 1 1/2 lengths in their NHF event in Sept. That horse then went onto win his first hurdle event franking the form.
The current fav is by all accounts a good horse for Nicky Henderson but I think Chris Gordon’s only runner today will have his measure. The stable are in great form and the jockey is 2-2 this term at Kempton.
Only bet of the day and I’ve put the money down!!
Good luck all 👍
