It's been a decent run of form for the page the last couple of days, with not only me putting up a few winners, but also a lot of the guys in the comments. I'm sticking with the jumps meeting again for Friday's racing, and although today's selection is slightly shorter than I'd normally go for, his form makes him hard to beat.
Worcester 2:52
Though he isn't great odds, I would be disappointed to see him not win this race as he is the obvious pick on form over fences. THISTLE DO NICELY appeared to be set for a win at this track last time out, around a month ago, until he fell at the last fence. The handicapper has put him up 4lbs for that, which always seems harsh, as connections didn't profit out of anything in the last race, yet they see their horse get put up in the handicap. Despite the rise in the weights, I find it hard to see how he loses this races, if he stays on his feet (fingers crossed).
To say that he's taken to fences like a duck to water is probably not true, but he's definitely adapted to them as well as you could possibly hope for, if you can ignore the error at the last fence lto. He has raced four times over fences, which has resulted in a win, and a runner-up finish. The form of the runner-up run is yet to be tested, but I get the impression that the winner could still be ahead of his mark. I've watched Back On The Lash a couple of times this year, and he has been an impressive horse to watch over fences this summer, so the fact Thistle Do Nicely finished second to him isn't a negative in the slightest. Last time out he would've beat some good quality animals, including 139 rated Streets Of Doyen, who is arguably better over hurdles, but is still a good yardstick, as well as Rhythm Is A Dancer, who has won again since.
At the time of writing he is around EVS – 6/5, and like I said, that's not great odds, but when you consider the opposition of today, you can appreciate why he is short in the market. A couple of these are debutantes to the chase game, so they will have to be a good bit better than their current hurdle ratings to win this, in my opinion. Based on the odds, Supremely Lucky is the main rival, but it would be a bit disappointing if he finished ahead of Thistle Do Nicely. The reason I say this is because this is his first start for Charlie Longsdon. Charlie is a good trainer, but the fact that Dan Skelton couldn't manage to get him to win over fences on six occasions suggests he might need to come down the handicap still, as Dan is a very good trainer and it's rare for him to not find an opportunity for his horses to break their maiden or fences or hurdles.
Hello all,
It was nice to land a lovely 9/2 winner today. Nayef Road had them all scampering a good bit out with his proven stamina over the trip shinning through. The race played out exactly as I thought it would and Atzeni gave him a brilliant ride.
Trident on the other hand was disappointing doesn’t have that turn of foot to put races to bed from what I can gather but has the stamina. He was last of the bridle and looked to be cruising but it wasn’t to be.
We are spoilt for choice tomorrow and I can’t say it enough, don’t get carried away! There is class ones everywhere tomorrow especially at new market, these trappy class 1s are extremely competitive and very hard to call a winner as a case can be made for a lot of them. Some nice horses on show regardless and I’m looking forward to watching the racing tomorrow for sure.
I’ve gone for 3 selections tomorrow. Again I’ll be going 3 straight singles to win.
My first is
Mr Wagyu – 2:05 – York
I’ve had this horse in my tracker for sometime now and he never fails to disappoint in regards to giving you a run for your money. He’s ran some creditable races in defeat, his most recent was last week where he ran a nice 3rd in the Ayr gold cup. He’s due to be raised 2lb for that effort. He’s straight forward, consistent and has quite a nice turn of foot. Jason Hart rides him consistently and knows this horse like the back of his hand. I thought 10/3 wasn’t a bad price given a lot have question marks on their heads.
My second selection is a short priced favourite
1:00 – Haydock – Lockerbie 4/7
Money’s already came for this horse. I seen it earlier at 5/6 so there isn’t much value in it at 4/7 but I’m confident that this one should win. Haggas gives young Christian Howarth the ride. I follow Christian on social media and actually managed to have a small conversation with him a while back when I congratulated him his first win. He’s a nice lad and hes one of the few upcoming apprentices I actually think could do well in the sport. I managed to rewatch Lockerbie last run. He ran over 1m and got boxed in without much room to extend to try quicken and win the race. He did manage to grab 3rd and Haggas feels this run over 1m 2f should enable him to go get his nose in front.
My last selection is a larger each way punt in one of the class ones at Newmarket.
Sir Busker – 3:35 – Newmarket EACHWAY
I wasn’t planning on having 3 selections until I seen Sir Busker. He’s one of my favourite horses.. besides Frodon and Stradivarius he would definitely be in my top 3 favourites. He’s tough and consistent over the mile and at 9/1 he’ll give you a run for your money. If you fancy taking on some of the shorter favourites such as master of the seas and Benbatl I think he’s the best option. He’s yet to win this year which is a bit of a red flag but as a tipper when I’m going for larger odd selections I always try to find a horse that’s consistent over the distance and has that knuckle down attitude to racing and Sir Busker has just that.
Cairnzy .Well done again yesterday ,Nice no messing bets with reason
Good Luck
Yes nice, better than some ones on here just put shit up and hope it sticks ,,pat pat

Haydock 4.20 STAR SHIELD 8/1 Widely available
Done both each way myself
At Haydock today fields have shortened a lot but still some decent races.
Good luck everyone
I’ve backed that Star Shield last two times it’s ran myself Sore Point. If I remember correctly Danny T has been riding him.. well last 2 or 3 runs anyway.
I see Spencer is riding him today. Either a really good thing or really bad. Personally not a fan of spencer. Eye catching jockey booking none the less.
Good luck today.
Let’s give this a go.
Newcastle 6pm -Wild Hope 10/1 EW
Horse seems to perform consistently at Newcastle. Finishing 2nd 3rd and 4th off marks of 80 and 81.
After a string of runs at Newcastle, it has then been entered solely on turf tracks since April and has had poor performances. The “best” performance it had was with Tom Eaves on board, a few races ago.
It is now back at Newcastle off a very low mark of 67 and Tom Eaves booked as jockey again. Looks like they know in its with a good shout.
Was 25s last night too.
Good luck.
Morning,
Unfortunately I’ve woke to see my 3rd selection Sir Busker who was due to run in the 3:35 at Newmarket has been announced as a NR.
I’ve decided to replace Sir Busker with Benbatl in the hope that he’s came on from his last run. He finished 2nd behind lavenders blue in the celebration mile at goodwood last month but he had been off track for 11 months so if you take that into account it was a bad run but still a good bit below par on his top form.
If he steps forward and comes on for the run he could take master of the seas all the way to the line. Master of the seas is probably a worthy favourite on paper but at 5/4 I’m willing to give Benbatl a rattle at 9/4. Oisin Murphy doing the steering and I’m sure it’ll be another Murphy and Buick thriller.
Only 2 places on offer due to the Sir Busker being withdrew otherwise I probably would of had an another each punt on something else in that race.
Good luck to everyone today.
BENBATL!
Albaflora 2-35 now non runner so left with benbatl 1-2 top and EVENS top 2 f.f.s, so expect reduced odds if you backed anything else in the race ☹️
Had the N R go with you now
LOMU who has been running in lower grade races over here for a good while apparently has moved to France and debuts there in the 4-29 at Chantilly.
He’s won for me a couple of times so had a ew extra on him for old times sake 😃.
12-1 for 5 places 🇫🇷

Benbatl!
Benbatl pulls me out of a hole with a beautifully ran race. I was confident enough that he needed the previous run and that he would come on from it and he did just.
Master of the seas unlucky in running and if the gap didn’t close I think he would of gone on to maybe nick my selection on or close to the line.. but he didn’t and that’s all that matters!
Tipped at 9/4 well done all winners again!
Disappointed with the other 2 selections especially my short priced lockerbie. My stream on racing tv cut of and I didn’t manage to see the race but he didn’t even make the top 3 so something obviously went wrong I’ll have to watch it back. Must be tough on a young jockey to ride for a top stable on a short priced favourite to not come home in 1st place but young Christian Howarth is still a nice prospect im the jockey world IMO.
Mr Wagyu ran his usual creditable race but unfortunately just couldn’t get there.
Happy not to end on a losing day as I’ve been very consistent this week. Fingers crossed I can carry that form into tomorrow’s usual tricky Saturday card.
Pity about your selection Rizzle. It looked like he clipped the leg of inside rail and it snapped either that or he simply broke down.. I’m assuming that one was put down on the track, I never heard anything after race. Never nice to see a horse go out that way. Forgot to mention on original post the passing of Santa Barbra another one who was just getting going. A proper sickener for any yard. The ups and downs of this sport.
Good luck for rest of day. Nothing else from me.
Great stuff! Well done and thank you for your hard work! GL
Cairnzy Lockerbie pulled the young jockeys arms out all race betting got it right fav drifted like a barge 2nd Fav got hammered in to give young female jockey her 1st win.
@Deb2000 Thanks Deb, saves me watching it back in frustration!
Good luck for rest of day.
