Mexican Boy was a faller at Wetherby. He was subject to some market support after drifting out to 18/1 before being backed into 6/1.
He was jumping okay up until that point, and I'm gutted he didn't finish the race, as I'd have liked to see if he stayed the trip. I'll monitor where he goes next, as I'm interested in backing him again. Thankfully, he did get up from the fall and the commentator said he was running away, which is always the main thing.
Uttoxeter 2:10 – Tonto Foley 11/4 (1pt)
You can get some weird and wacky results in conditional Jockey races, as they are inexperienced riders and more often than not the horses will get some pretty strange rides, but I'll take a chance on Ellis Collier riding for Christian Williams with, Tonto Foley.
Christian gave me a nice winner last Saturday when his horse was backed in from 10/1 to around 3/1, winning with plenty in hand. The odds on this horse aren't anywhere near that high, but that's because he has shown a decent level at a handicapping level from his run 35 days ago. He is a free-going horse, which is a concern on heavy ground as you can't really get away with that, but I'm hoping that was due to his freshness having not run for 100 days before that. I'm confident that this horse is better than a very low mark of 77, which is effectively 69 with Ellis' 8lb claim.
He was in the middle of running a big race on his sole PTP run before he fell two from home. He was leading that day, and the horse who eventually won is now rated 135 over hurdles and finished 5th in a Grade 1 in Ireland, which reads as very good form in a race of this nature.
He was quietly fancied for his handicap debut at Newcastle last time around, going off at 7/2. He travelled nicely through his race, but her early exertions paid the price in the end as he did get tired in the final furlong, where he finished fourth. Still, that was a good effort and something to build on.
His pedigree suggests he should handle the ground, and he will be running off 9st 11lbs, which be a massive aid, especially against his main market rival who will be carrying 11st 11lbs and is a 10yo.
Uttoxeter 3:20 – Western Jill 3/1 (1pt)
Courey's Courage is the one to beat based on her recent romp 17 days ago and has always been a horse who could be half-decent, but I'll take her on with handicap debutante Western Jill.
It's no secret how good of a trainer Laura Morgan is, she has worked wonders with her horses. She has partnered up well with owner Alan Rogers who has had 9 winners from 18 runners this year, all trained by Laura. I think this could be another shrewd purchase by connections, and we might see what she's capable of now she enters handicaps for the first time.
She has run okay on her first two runs over hurdles, with the better run being on debut when finishing third. The runner-up of that race hosed up at Wetherby yesterday, so that makes the form look quite strong in relation to today's race. Western Jill was well-supported on debut, being backed into 2/1F, so they must've thought she was a decent horse. Her PTP form looks decent, she finished second in that race and the third went on to win a bumper in Ireland by 7L, recording an RPR of 114 in the process.
Soft/heavy ground shouldn't be an issue for the Westerner Mare, who has soft ground in her pedigree from both sides. Patrick Cowley is a good young apprentice and takes off a handy 3lbs, and is 2/2 when riding for Alan Rogers, and is operating at a 16% SR this season.
Stratford 2:52 – The Grey Falco 13/8 (2pt)
Some of you will remember a few weeks ago I tipped up The Grey Falco, and he wasn't really put into the race that day. I've put him in my tracker, and he's running at Stratford today.
I think the soft ground and the decision to move him back up in trip will be tailor-made for him. He's definitely a well-handicapped animal off a mark of 109 and I'm confident that if he jumps well and gets a good ride, he'll be in the winner's enclosure come 3pm tomorrow.
This race doesn't look like a great race, you've got a couple of horses coming into this win recent wins under their belts, but I just think this horse is better than them based on the mark the handicapper has him on. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't put it all together today.
Doncaster 2:25 – Broken Spear 8/1 (0.5pt ew 6pl)
There's plenty to like about the chances of Broken Spear in this race, despite it being a 22-runner field handicap.
This horse has been laid out for this race all season long according to his trainer, Tony Coyle, and I can understand why and I totally believe him. He ran in the Lincoln last year, finishing 5th/22 at odds off 66/1, so it's not a great surprise to see them coming back for the same meeting in another good pot handicap in this race. The rain/ground has come right for him, as he loves soft ground and the track is a track which he runs extremely well at. He has won here before and has been in the places on a number of times, including being 2nd in the Brocklesby as a 2yo back in 2018!
Billy Loughnane catches the eye as jockey bookings go. This lad is the rising star in the weighing room, he shows maturity beyond his years and the fact he is still claiming 5lbs seems like daylight robbery. He would've been in demand for this race so the fact Tony Coyle has secured him for Broken Spear gives me plenty of confidence.
There are 6 places on offer at Bet365 and 7 with WHill, so make sure you take advantage of those extra places.

Hi All
Firstly, I just want to let you know yesterday I completed my treatment and now it’s about playing the waiting game and trying to get myself back to some sort of normality.
Just have to take one day at a time.
So onto the racing today and whilst I may not be the biggest fan of the flat, the Lincoln can be a good race to follow trends and that’s basically what I’ve done.
Here’s a breakdown of the main trends
Aged 4-6
Horses 7 or older are 0-67 since 1999
Weight
Carried 9’5” or more 1-57 since 2000
Previous race class
Horses that ran in either Listed or Group races lto are 0-51 in the last 14yrs
Rating
11-12 rated between 95-105
Last 5 rated 99, 102, 100, 100, 100
Claimer
5 and 7lb claimer are 0-43 since 2000
Sires
Pivotal is the only Sire to have produced more than 1 winner in recent times. Winning it in 2013 and 2018.
Taking all of the above into account I’ve landed on BARADAR who won on his first start for new yard and the end of last season. Was rated as high as 110 but today runs off 94 so if yards has worked then there’s plenty of room in that mark.
Also the only horse in the field by Pivotal
BARADOR 14/1 EW 6 places

This horse won well at newcastle over 7f and based on that run looks like he could stay the mile. Up 5lb with the handicapper but due to go up another 2lb so in effect, well treated and 2lb under on this race. Question marks on whether he’ll handle the ground but with Atzeni on board I’m expecting him to outrun his odds.
Good luck all

Winner was a total trend buster but to carry that weight on that ground and win the way he did was some performance.
