Racing tips: The well handicapped Desaray Girl can land a second win in quick succession

Apologies for yesterday, as simply both horses selected weren't on a going day. Frustrating when it happens, after thinking they both had a solid chance. Finger's crossed for a better day today.

Market Rasen 1:35

I tipped up Lady Tremaine a few runs back where she was given a pretty poor ride at Chepstow. She has recently bounced back to form by winning by 3.75L at Carlisle over a longer trip, which I thought would suit. Despite the fact she looks on a good mark (untouched rating from her win) I think she isn't that well handicapped to beat DESARAY GIRL who is evidently extremely well handicapped, and looked much better on her most recent run when winning at Ayr.

This horse won last time off a mark of 99, since it was a conditionals race, the ratings don't go up straight away, which is why Micky Hammond is making the most out of her current mark, which is actually 4lbs lower than when she won a week ago, which makes her claims there for all to see. I think the winning margin of 1.75L flatters the runner-up, as she did very little when she hit the front, and somewhat idled. She is a previous winner in a Class 1 Listed Mares race a couple of years ago, so clearly has talent when she's on a going day, and I find very little reasons why she can't follow up with another win. She handles the ground extremely well, gets in this off a feather weight of 9st 10lbs when you take away Emma Smith-Chaston's 7lb claim, and as the odds suggest, she is the one to beat.

Brian Hughes is not a jockey who rides a lot for Martin Keighley, in fact he had his first ride for him just over a week ago at Uttoxeter which resulted in a win, so the fact that he is jocked up to ride his only runner of the day in the bumper is noticeable.

SPANISH PRESENT makes his debut for the Keighley yard in this relatively average bumper. In Ireland he showed ability, being placed on two occasions from three runs, which has produced some decent pieces of form. The 4th placed finish at the Galway Festival has produced a couple of winners, as has the runner-up run at Thurles. His most latest run at Fairyhouse was full of promise, and he was arguably unlucky not to finish closer than what he did as he was impeded in the last furlong when the front three came close to eachother, which resulted in Spanish Present nearly going through the rails. That was his first run in 164 days, so he was entitled to need that run, and now with a switch to Martin's yard, it's interesting to see what they can do with him.

Martin doesn't have many bumper runners, which is why the booking of Brian Hughes catches the eye, who has a fantastic strike rate in bumpers, especially this year as he is currently operating at a 32% SR. As I mentioned previously, from the horses who have form in the book, they're not exceptional pieces of form, with the best coming from Shantou's Melody, but he carries a penalty and hasn't been on the track for 316 days, so can be swerved in my opinion.

Navan 1:45

Thankfully, Navan have managed to squeeze their meeting from Sunday to Tuesday's racing as it was previously abandoned. I tipped up this horse on Sunday, and I have no reason to not put her up again in this race.

On paper, you'd probably say that Lunar Display is the horse they have to beat and should win comfortably, but I don't think that is the case. She has some decent form in the book, and is a previous Listed winner, so that's probably why she is under EVS. Today's conditions are different to what she seems most confident, the ground is much more testing than what her Listed win came on, and it's a longer trip. She has won on heavy ground before, but that was a maiden, and it seems that they think she is better on good ground. At the odds, I think she is worth taking on, and I am siding with BRAMPTON BELLE who is much more unexposed and could be better than this field.

Henry De Bromhead's mare is making her fourth hurdle start and is dropped in class from her latest race, where she ran in a Grade 2 against the boys. I don't think she was totally disgraced last time at Limerick over 2m 7f, even though she was beaten 18L into fifth. That trip seemed too far for her, as she didn't have much left in the tank when jumping the last couple of hurdles, but before that, she travelled well enough to suggest she will be competitive when they drop her back in trip. This race is much easier than her last race she raced in, and she is against the girls, which is automatically an easier task. The form of her maiden win at Tramore looks quite good for a maiden win, with the runner-up winning since, the 3rd has been placed in a Grade 2. Henry De Bromhead won this race last year, with a horse who had only won a maiden, so he knows what kind of horse it takes to win it.

At the current odds of 4/1 I think she is the bet in the race.
