Bank Holiday Monday was a good day, with three of the five selections winning. Hopefully some of you managed to get on the winners.
On the Sunday just gone it's been a year since I took over as the main tipster on Mr Fix It, taking over from Tommo. After a rough start, I think it's been a decent year with both good and bad patches, but have landed some nice winners along the way. Hopefully my second year can be better than the first, and thanks for all of those who continue to use the thread and post their selections and thoughts.
Fakenham 2:30
You'll have to have a bit of faith with LAKESIDE LAD on chase debut, as he is still a maiden over hurdles and hasn't really shown much over the smaller obstacles, but I think connections of this horse and trying to land a double at Fakenham tomorrow, and I'll be backing both.
Of the two horses they are sending over (same owner) this one is my least confident, due to showing very little. However, Seamus Mullins doesn't send many to this track but has a good SR when doing so. In the last 5 years he has sent 15 runners to Fakenham, which has yielded 4 wins, so it's not a track he sends hopeless chances. Later on the card is the Norfolk National where the connections run Tommie Beau. On the Racing Post the trainer has been quoted saying, “It's a long way to go for us, but the owners love Fakenham”. So the fact they send a horse on Chase debut to Fakenham when their main runner is in the National suggests they are going for the double.
The early market vibes are strong, and I think this could be a handicap blot and be a horse ahead of his mark.
Fakenham 4:15
As I mentioned above, I think TOMMIE BEAU has a nice chance in the Norfolk National. This horse has always been a strong stayer and is a horse who enjoys good ground. I think this long trip of 3m 5f will bring out further improvement as he seems to run well over slightly shorter and has carried big weights to wins in the past. He is a previous course winner, winning 2/2 at the Norfolk track, which is obviously a big positive.
As I've already eluded to, this isn't a track Seamus usually has runners at, and it's not exactly a close track for his stable, so his runners need to be respected. Most of the horses in this race are exposed types, whereas Tommie Beau is still a 7yo who is totally unexposed at this trip. He's got low miles on the clock and if he does stay, which he should, then I think he could be well handicapped off a mark of 120. He looks like a great EW bet in this.
Ayr 2:10
Gordon Elliott loves sending runners over to Scotland at this time of year, and he generally doesn't miss with his arrows. He sends over two in the opener at Ayr, but the one I like is the hurdle debutante, TED HASTINGS.
This horse showed potential on bumper debut, finishing 3rd on before running a stinker as a strong favourite at Fairyhouse the time after. He clearly had problems at Fairyhouse, and even though the vet failed to find anything after the race, the fact he has been off the track since January suggests he did have a problem. This PTP winner clearly has ability and the fact Sean Bowen has chosen to ride him over Gordon's other horse who is rated 120 and has plenty of experience over hurdles gives the impression he is the one to be on.
This race doesn't look all that strong with Gordon's other horse, Showbusiness setting the standard, but is still a maiden after 9 runs. James Moffatt's runner is interesting as he won this race last year with a similar type, and he has taken the same route with this horse, if the money arrives I'd be expecting a big run. However, the odds available on Ted Hastings are more than generous, and could be proven to be too big if he shows up in good form.
Well done with all your winners Rizzel and thanks for all your efforts and everyone else who takes the time and trouble hopefully you land a big one this year and help us All have a early retirement!

Most improved horse in France last year rising through the ranks culminating in winning the Prix Maurice De Gheest – Group 1 in August at deauville.
6 furlong specialist today runs over 5 furlongs
Had a blow out on the all weather in February, so hopefully is ready for this.
Marianafoot also won here in late April last year over today’s 5 furlong distance…
Barzelona been on for last 5 runs but rides joint favourite egot for Andre Fabre, so added the evens cover bet for 2nd.
Don’t know if barzelona chose egot or is he fabre’s retained jockey ??
Barzelona has ridden egot a few times previously too …
Love Marianfoot Elvis he’s racked up plenty wins for me,possibly for you to over last few seasons but I was very impressed with EGOT and with both on my tracker and Barzalona on board the younger horse again I think it’ll just be a R/fc for me.

EGOTS available at 11/4 Bet365 so R/fc ain’t a bad price.

Bit of the Harry Hernandez show at Turf Paradise last night think commentator said he was at a 26% strike rate?
He rattled in a few more before i KOd so it’ll be better now. He’s on the first here but I’m sticking with my tracker horse for a single who has a good jockey on board with a fine record himself and should take the beating if any type of improvement v the others

ADDING for another single or can go in a Yankee.
Turf Paradise-R1…Pepper Spray. 11/8 Skybet boost
Contested a G3 last time when far from disgraced watching it back and won a Stakes race before that so 11/10 looks a steal considering the class drop.
