Chilli Filli was a cracking winner yesterday, and she won at a drifted price of 11/4 which seems a huge price. When horses go for a walk in the market, more times than not you think it's over before it's even began. However, I had a feeling the drift wasn't bad vibes, and sure enough it wasn't. Cassablanca Mix took a bad fall, but was apparently okay, which is always the main thing.

It's hard to say what kind of level the form of his last race adds up to, but STOLEN SILVER was superb in a three runner race at Market Rasen last time out and has some decent pieces of form when previously trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies.
There is a fair amount of pace predicted in this race, with the selection going to ridden prominently, as well as the Gary Moore horse and potentially a couple others. However, I don't think they will be able to take Stolen Silver on as he is such a free going sort, and I think Charlie Deutsch will want to get him to the front. He might waste energy doing so, but I think he's well handicapped on his current mark, and if he can get into a nice rhythm in front, he could be hard to stop.
He has been raised 4lbs for his recent win over Beyond The Clouds, who is a good yard stick and was rated 142 when they met, and he couldn't lay a glove on Stolen Silver who won easily by 11L. Like I mentioned before, it was a three runner race, so it's hard to take the form too literal, but his previous form offers encouragement that he is well handicapped. On chase debut he bumped into Eldorado Allen, who is a quality horse, and will surely be winning a Grade 1 at some point during this season. That horse was second in last season's Arkle behind Shiskin, and he won a Grade 2 on his seasonal reappearance at Exeter a couple of weeks ago. In that same race, Stormy Ireland finished 2nd, so that was a very tough race to make your chase debut, and he did well to finish 3rd and only 6.25L behind the winner. Stormy Ireland was a talented Mare when trained by Willie Mullins', she didn't quite hit it off when she moved to Paul Nicholls, but when she returned to Willie she won another Grade 1.
This is a tough race, as you'd expect from a Cheltenham race, but I am a big fan of the trainer, Sam Thomas, and I think he places his horses very well, so he must believe in this horses ability.

One of my favourite races of the jumps calendar is the X-Country race at the Cheltenham Festival, but also the ones leading up to it at their monthly meetings. I like this kind of race as it's so unique, and not every horse takes well to these kind of fences, so experience and a proven record is key!
On the bare form of things you'd have to say that the Irish raider, SINGING BANJO has little chance of competing against some of these big names, but I think he could be a dark horse in this race. It has been very good to back horses in this race at the bottom of the weights in recent years, as this is actually a handicap, whereas horses race off level weights when it comes to the Cheltenham Festival. With the marathon trip of 3m 6f being the distance, and a variety of different and tricky jumps being in their way, a light horse is a huge advantage in my opinion. The selection races off the minimum weight of 10st and then gets a 7lb claimer on top of that, so effectively races off 9st 7lbs, which is 33lbs lighter than the top weight!
This horse has bags of experience over these kind of jumps as he has won a couple of races over the Banks at Punchestown, which is the Irish equivalent of Cheltenham's X-Country. He won two on the bounce towards the back end of last season, and is a thorough stayer, as seen when winning over 4m 2f, but also has the tactical speed for shorter, like he did when winning over 3m 1f. He is not a cracking horse over normal obstacles, as shown by his rating of 88, but when he tackles these obstacles he is a different beast and it brings out tonnes of improvement. Philip Rothwell doesn't send many across the Irish sea these days, so that must show the confidence he has in him running a big race.

I see Crainzy has also selected him and I’ll add a bit more reasoning.
He’s running off 122 with the jockey taking 3lbs off. In his 2 Hurdle wins so far he’s beaten Presentingandcounting whose now rated 147 and in his other win both the 2nd and 3rd have both won since. Surely 122 is well within his capabilities.
Diesel D’Allier 11/2 ew 4 places 2.55 chelt
Won this race in 2019 when trained in France. Having his first start for new stable, you’re never sure how it will go because of that, but I’d like to think he’ll be primed for another crack at this today.
BOL
I also give Gin on Lime a squeak in a 2 horse race against My Drogo. Unlike the fav has chase experience, having beaten a 140 rated Mullins horse by 12L lto and it could have been double that as he won as he liked. My Drogo was impressive at Aintree last time but I think this could be closer than many including the bookies think.
I’ve had a play at 9/4 anyway

I think for Cape Gentlemen to give her 18lbs will be too much to ask.
Irish had a good day without their big hitters.
Cheltenham in march could be 24-0 to Ireland, the UK scene is going backwards.
Can Anyone here honestly confidently predict with any certainty any UK horse to win at the festival
Elvis
How about Shishkin Champion Chase
You’ll probably win the Ultima, irish have a poor record in that race. Other than that I wouldn’t be confident at the moment on any other English winner and that includes Shiskin.
Maybe if Jonbon is as good as his brother he’d have a chance.
