Racing tips: Step up 6f will be ideal for the very talented filly Miaharris

Mayfair Gold was weak in the market after some early support overnight and ran a stinker. Zero Carbon got outlasted by the other front runner who battled Zero Carbon for the lead, they pulled clear of the rest, but Zero Carbon didn't have enough in the tank to battle to another win.

Salisbury 3:40 – Miaharris 3/1 (1pt Bet365)

When Miaharris won for us last time out in the Class 1 race at Newbury, I thought she looked like a very smart filly for the future.

She got Oisin Murphy out of a lot of trouble that day, after the jockey positioned her extremely poorly, finding plenty of trouble in running before the filly picked up and found a lethal turn of foot to bridge the gap to those in front and she won going away. For me, that was up there for one of the most impressive runs from a 2yo filly this year and now connections have put her up in trip I think there's plenty to come.

She is bred to stay further than 5f, and the way she runs would suggest she will improve for the step up in trip. Salisbury is a stiff track, so 6f at this venue is a big question mark as it will be very tough on her stamina on her first run over 6f, but I think she will relish this type of track and trip combination. She is drawn wide, which isn't ideal, but it's evident that they like to get her cover, so she will be held up towards the rear, so chances are that this could be a painful watch. But, she clearly has the ability to get herself out of some sticky situations, and now she is running over a furlong further, she has more time to get a better position as the race progresses.

Salisbury 4:15 – Katey Kontent 8/1 (0.5pt EW Bet365)

This is an interesting sprint handicap and if this was over 5f I think The Big Board would be of major interest, but over 6f on a stiff track I think Katey Kontent looks the value.

The Big Board has the best recent form on offer with her fourth at York being great behind some very classy sprint handicap horses, but she is all speed and though she held up well over 6f last time out I think she was starting to fade late in that race and York is a speedster track, unlike Salisbury which is uphill so I think she might trade low in running but her gas tank will empty with a furlong and half to run. Katey Kontent is yet to run over 6f but based on her runs over 5f and her pedigree I think she could be suited by this step up in trip. She was staying on very well at Newbury last time out and that was a return to form as she was kept to Class 1 company before that as she was 2/2 as a juvenile, but she struggled up in class.

She is related to the classy AW horse, El Caballo who is a strong runner over 6f, looking like a 7f horse at times, which gives me plenty of confidence with today's step up in trip.
