A pretty poor day for Friday with only one selection winning, and winning by the tinniest of margins. Saturday is a busy day, and is full of good racing, with the majority being top class handicaps. Good luck if you're following.
Kempton 1:32
A bit of a risky one, but I am giving a chance to LOCK'S CORNER who has shown very little in recent times, but is now back on a workable mark, and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he miraculously returned to form in this contest.
As we see on plenty of occasions, horses owned by JP McManus will win plenty of the bounce, then when they struggle as they are in the grips of the handicapper, they will run like rubbish until their marks drop to a point where they can win a few on the bounce again. I think that this could be the case for this horse, who I believe they've not really tried on for the last couple of runs, at the very least. Since the start of this season his mark has dropped from 143 to 130, which is low considering he won off a mark of 140 in May and 134 in Nov 2020. You should be able to get decent odds on this one, due to his form being diabolical. I wouldn't be going crazy on this one, but a small bet is worth it.
I feel like a lot of the horses in this race are in the grips of the handicapper, so a chance on a horse who has come down the weights looks a good shout.

It's going to be a big ask, but I will be playing WILLIAM HENRY Each Way in the Lanzarote Hurdle. This guy has been an absolute gem for connections. He has won some big races, including this back in 2018, as well as a Cheltenham festival win, and even a Grade 2 in recent years, which goes to show he still has it in him.
This race could be suited perfectly for him. He is a good stayer at this trip, and the ground is being described as ‘tacky', which means it could be a stamina test over the trip, and that should fall into the hands of this lad. A proper gallop is what he's wanted over this intermediate trip in the past, so anything to do with stamina should bring him right into the conversation. You will get decent odds on him as he is as 12yo, and the stats looks against him. I'm not saying he's going to go and win, but he's definitely an EW player at the very least, and his odds look tasty enough to get involved against the younger unexposed horses who aren't exactly handicap battle hardened.

Christian Williams sends two for this contest, and both look to be solid contenders, but I'm siding with the bottom weight, STRICTLYADANCER, ridden by young 7lb claimer, Ellis Collier. Jack Tudor who is Christian's main stable jockey takes the ride on the other horse, Kitty's Light, so it might appear a daft decision to back the horse with the inexperienced rider on it, as surely the stable jock will have picked the best chance. However, I think it's not a big surprise that Jack has gone for Kitty's Light, as he is a much better horse, and I feel like he would look daft if he didn't go for it, as he does look a horse on the up. I do think he is on wrong horse though, as carrying 10st 2lbs with the claimer's value taken into consideration, is a big factor and he's looked progressive this season until last time out. I'm willing to forgive him for his run at Sandown where he was pulled up. Connections seemed confused by the run as well, and they've given him some time off to reset the batteries. Before that he landed the hattrick, and every time he appeared to be in the grips of the handicapper he raised his game, which is what I think he can do again, for maybe the last time before he does get in the grips. Ellis Collier has been a revelation this year, and has won five time from 16 rides, so is clearly a capable lad when it comes to riding.
Warwick 1:50
I tipped up MINT CONDITION last time out where he won at Haydock, and looked like a horse who would appreciate it when stepping up to 3m and maybe more. Connections have shared the same thought process as me, and have put him up to 3m. This race is going to be a tough ask, as it is a Grade 2 where they race off level weights, other than the favourite who carries a 5lb penalty. If truth be told, I don't really rate the form of the favourite, not enough to suggest that he is bulletproof in this lineup. Mint Condition looks a nice prospect for Jennie Candlish, and I think the form ahead of Ashtown Lad is decent, and he deserves his chance in this lineup. It would not surprise me if he could upset the odds on shot, and I think he is worth a small play.

A horse who seems to be completely overlooked in this contest is HOWDYALIKEMENOW. I managed to watch this lads most recent run, as I put up the runner-up as a selection in the same race. I was very taken by the way this lad powered through the heavy ground like it was nothing, and he looked like a horse who would be even better over further. This is obviously a much tougher assignment than last time out, but he is definitely worth his place and I can't blame connections for trying. At current odds of around 16/1, I think he is also worth a small play, as he looks to have a high cruising speed, and the fact he carries top weight in a handicap last time suggests he could be better than a handicapper. A lot of the horses come into this race with question marks above their head, so to see his odds that big is surprising. Party Business looked to be running a big race in the Grade 1 won by Stage Star. He came down on one of the latter hurdles, and looked like he might've placed, but it's hard to say, and it's hard to completely weight up that form, other than the winner who looks like a potential superstar. As for the rest, the form is up in the air for what's good and bad.
Warwick 3:00
Another previous selection on the thread making a return is CORACH RAMBLER. I am a huge fan of this horse, and I hope he returns to Cheltenham for one of the handicaps they have on offer at the festival as I think he could be a huge player. This lad has bags of potential and ability, but he just needs to learn to settle and mature (weird saying that as he is 8yo). When he hits the front he literally does nothing, and that's why his performances can be marked up, as he wanders around and does nothing. He has been hit with a rise for his most latest win, but a mark of 142 still looks feasible, if I think he is the caliber of horse I think he is. Carrying top weight in this won't be an easy task, and he's unknown over the trip, but it speaks volumes that Lucinda Russell brings him down from her Scotland base to Warwick to go for this. Her yard remain is tremendous form, both over the jumps and flat in the last two weeks, and I hoping it can continue with this lad.

Has proven he stays this far, 3rd in the brutal national hunt chase at Cheltenham in 2019 in which I was present.
Only 4 finished that day and they all crawled home led by le breuil,
1 horse died, and 4 jockeys were banned for basically flogging their horses when they had enough.
I think they made some rule changes after this race to protect horses welfare and not before time too.

El Dorado ran ok but found one too good.
Forpaddytheplummer should stick to mending leaky taps.
On the whole and enjoyable afternoons viewing.
Elvis mail tomorrow at 2-40 kelso 3-1.
Won there 3 times, big weight even with the claimer, but down in class and ran well at haydock recently.
Will be on but I suspect one of the lower weights might nab him late on 🏇
