Impervious put in a round of horrible jumping yesterday, and clattered the last hurdle, which ruined any chance she had of making up the ground on the leader who also jumped it poor. I think she could have maybe gotten quite close with a decent jump at the last. Cape Gentleman also put a horrible round of jumping, and that resulted in him falling. He did get back to his feet, so I think he is okay.

Ayr 2:45

When looking at the opening odds for this race I was pleasantly surprised to see the odds on offer for BUZZ DE TURCOING, as I thought he would be close to EVS. I think he is as big odds as he is because people either don't rate the form of his chase debut, or they believe he was flattered to get as close as he did to the winner.

He finished 4.75L behind Ashtown Lad at Wetherby, and for a chase debutante, he jumped brilliantly, and looked to be causing the eventual winner a lot of problems. He was simply outstayed by the winner, who made all and set a good time, so his stamina came to the fore and won him the race. I think the winner is a decent horse, and even though he was poor a couple of days ago in a Grade 2, I do think when they step him up to the marathon trips like 4m you will see even more improvement. The selection travelled very well throughout the last race, and was trading quite short odds in running, and he did outrun his odds of 18/1. He was entitled to need that run, as that was his first run after a 237 day break, so you'd like to think he will be fitter for this meeting.

He rating of 123 hasn't been altered, which could either make the handicappers extremely silly, or they were bang on. It really depends on whether you think the form is good or the fact he is flattered, and the handicappers clearly think it was a fluke. The Racing Post gave that run an RPR of 138, which gives the impression that they think he is currently well handicapped off his current handicap mark, which is the same thought process I have. He was a decent hurdler, but chasing seems to be more his bag, and he can prove that off this lenient untouched mark.

Sam Drinkwater sends him to Ayr from his Worcester base and is his only runner of the day, as well as booking James Bowen who travels for the one ride. This horse goes on a 650+ mile round trip, which is around 11 hours of travelling, so you'd like to think that they aren't coming for no reason.
