THE mud will be flying at Lingfield but RUACANA (1.00) handled it well enough last Tuesday to suggest he is capable of following up under a 7lb penalty.
He was a fortuitous winner as Barntown (runs 2.30) had taken his measure when falling at the final flight. That left Ruacana nine lengths clear at the line and today's drop in trip shouldn't present a problem. Karakoram won at Ludlow on good ground and his Warwick third 11 days ago shows he remains in form. Flaminger represents Gary Moore, a trainer always to be respected here.
There is some good all-weather action at Kempton but the handicaps looks especially tight. In the 7f Novice Stakes, HUKUM (1.50)is a very fair each-way alternative to the front two in the market. Owen Burrows sent the son of Sea The Stars to Newbury for his debut in September and Hukum ran with plenty of promise in third. He had the Queen's Evening Sun a couple of lengths behind in fourth and he came out to chase home a John Gosden favourite, King Leonidas, as Newmarket last month.
