Forget You Not repeated last year's win by clinging on in the final furlong after going off as the 15/8 market favourite. Connections were clearly very sweet on his chances of winning the same race 12 months on and had their money down.
Jersey Wonder ran a belter in the match race and considering it was a two-runner race it was a good watch as both horses were neck and neck until the very end. I'd rather see more horses running, but the two horses who competed gave us a good viewing of what they could do, it's just a shame Jersey Wonder couldn't win.
Worcester 1:30
EASKEY LAD is the one to beat in this contest, in my opinion. His recent win at Uttoxeter was a very good effort and showed that he is a better horse over a longer trip.
He is still very lightly raced over fences, with just three runs to his name so there's definitely more improvement to come from this 7yo trained by Rebecca Curtis. In his first two runs, he ran over 2m 4f, which is definitely on the short side for him, but over 3m he seemed in his element. He might've got a little tired late on at Uttoxeter as he had a slow jump at the last and he was wandering to the left before he made the jump, but I think he had enough in the tank as he won with plenty of authority and travelled beautifully into the race.
The form of that race looks okay, with the runner-up going on and winning since and winning in good style, which is always a positive. That race was only 2 weeks ago so the form is yet to be fully tested, but considering he won easily it was nice to see the second horse win next time out.
This race is a step up in class so should be harder, but with him still climbing the handicapping system he gets into this race off bottom weight of 10st 3lbs, making him a good bet in my eyes as he should be able to progress again.
Rebecca Curtis has a good record at Worcester in the last five years which is a bonus (6/19 32% SR).
Nothing else caught my eye but if HO QUE OUI goes over EVS in the first race at Worcester I think that could be a good bet. I expect White Hart Lady to attract a fair amount of market support due to the form of the yard, and that could push Ho Que Oui out to EVS or bigger.
4.10 Nmkt Queenlet W Haggas, only horse at the meeting and won the race last year.
Time Flies By – Fontwell 1.47 – 9/4
There’s no doubt this horse is becoming quite expensive to follow having been a beaten fav in 3 of his last 4 hurdle contests. He’s not always the most fluent of jumpers and has been found wanting up the running on a few occasions.
With all that being said, I truly believe today will be the day he sheds his maiden tag over the jumps. This race will certainly be the easiest he has faced for a long time and I think it could be said that he needed his last two races (one being over the bigger obstacles) to get in top shape having been off the track for 500+ days.
This will be the first time James Bowen has ridden the horse but that’s no negative as he is a quality jockey who does well when riding for Nicky Henderson.
I think the good ground conditions and drop back from 2.6 to 2.3 will really help as will the fact that he’s dropped a few lbs from his last few runs.
I simply think that he’ll put his experience to good use this afternoon and if he’s ironed out a few of those jumping errors he will take all the beating!!
This should be 3rd time lucky after my last two tips were slightly disappointing.
Good luck all 👍
