THEFLYINGPORTRAIT (1.15) takes a welcome drop in class in the 2m 1f handicap chase at Market Rasen.
Jennie Candlish's grey was a very smart chaser a few seasons ago but will become a 12-year-old in a couple of days' time. He can still raise a good gallop, however, and his recent Doncaster third to Carolines Charm came in tougher Class 3 grade.
Lucy Pinchin takes off 5lb and the handicapper has dropped my selection 2lb by way of an early birthday present.

1315 Mkt – THEFLYINGPORTRAIT 11/4 0.5pt win
There’s a few in this race which could spring a surprise and given the short price, perhaps I should’ve looked elsewhere especially as we’re carrying top weight on ground which is apparently less than ideal. However, the horse is rated 14 below his last win, that was over a year ago but I’ll happily chance and halve the stake to compensate. The trainer once again uses a promising apprentice who she had a winner with at the weekend. NIGHT OF SIN at a price may have place claims but doesn’t justify a selection just yet.
1415 Mkt – TERRIERMAN 11/2 0.5pt ew 5 places
One of this seasons stand out trainers has CYCLOP, he’s on a hattrick and is now 12lbs above his latest win, another of Lily Pinchin’s rides. The horse actually has a CD win off 2lbs higher going back to 2018 so definitely not a forlorn hope and looks set for a big run. I will however side with the Skelton’s. TERRIERMAN is unexposed, wont mind any juice in the ground and can hopefully go one better than lto when a length 2nd to the current joint fav COOL DESTINATION. That was over slightly shorter but we were staying on and we’ll be 4lbs better off. Not the type of EW price I like in a race such as this but a place (5 paid) ensures a small amount of profit and looks a safe option.
1450 Mkt – CILLUIRID 9/2 0.5pts ew
My eye was drawn to PELLADY in what looks a minefield of a race, I scrapped it at the last minute and decided to go EW on a 9/2 shot, that is a bit laughable given we have at least 50pts to play with but it’s not the worst decision I’ve ever made. If we can only place, we lose 5% of our stake and I can live with that. The horse won LTO, the claim means he’s only up 3. Given he beat LUCA BRASI’S BOY LTO and I’m currently watching the Godfather, I am not willing to ignore it, although that may not be enough grounds for you to part with a few sheckles. Watch the market at ideally get at least 5/1, as for PELLADY, he was around 7/1 at time of writing so check close to off for any support.
1325 Lim – JURBY 15/2 0.5pt ew
The horse beat Cappacurry Zak when last seen in this sphere and is double the price, he’s only ran once since that, recently over hurdles when 18/18. There is unfortunately enough risk to overlook but given how I operate, it is really no risk to me and I am happy to be on. If new to betting anything 5/1 or bigger returns your full stake back assuming you’ve gone EW, certain firms pay more places at shorter odds, something it always pay to at least look at.

haha my concern with TFP is it looks a bit too obvious but if you back to an affordable sustainable stake, hopefully in time the profit will begin to accrue, may mean smaller gains but is the best option. must stress i didn’t look at many in the TERRIERMAN race and JURBY was more in hope give I like cromwell and he is popping up now and then – he does have a few other runners. sadly it looks very very ominous for TFP’s win chances now, out to 5s with TWO NON RUNNERS, I don’t think it has a chance now, the ground was a niggle for me but I checked the local weather and it hadn’t been raining too much apparently and with such cold temperatures I would’ve thought it’d firmed up. I live in the next county and last week it relentlessly rained here for 3-4 nights, not sure if they had it but perhaps.
Anyway, RIKOBOY is not backable for me and despite the connections I am going to say he is now the fake fav, fully capable of landing this race but not backable, 3s into 2s. The biggest mover is NIGHT OF SIN 10s into 11/2 but with the 2 NRs that isn’t as big as I first thought and still not worth a bet based on just that.
I’d have to say I am most wary just on gut feeling of ZOUTOISE. however I has just spotted it’s only CHEROKEE BILLS 2nd run for the trainer, and LTO was his first run in 10 months, he was a close enoug 4th off 100/1 and if I was to chance anything, CB ew would be the pick. BOL.

im tippping 7f flat horses which are dying mid race at the minute so perhaps avoid but a very thin line in the 1515. kiwi myth was 4 lengths behind IN ARREARS when carrying 10 less, there’s a 12lb pull in IA’s favour today, IA is 33s and KW 9/2, maybe not enough to back IA but enough to lay KW perhaps.
