OLEG (3.20) can bring his stamina into play in the 2m 1f handicap at Pontefract.
Paul Nicholls gave daughter Megan the leg-up on Oleg in a females riders' event at Southwell in March and they sauntered clear for a facile success. The assessor has reacted with a 12 lb rise but the forecast rain will play to Oleg's strengths. He has scored over hurdles and fences, so this extended distance should bring out the best in him. Softer ground might not suit Anyonecanhaveitall quite as well but Mark Johnston's stayer still looks the one to beat. He chased home Just Hubert at Musselburgh and scored over two miles at Newcastle.
MY POEM (5.20) represents Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore at Wolverhampton, and moves into handicap company on the back of three fair efforts as a juvenile. The pick of My Poem's form was probably her fourth Cabaletta at Yarmouth and she gets the nod over Bavardages, a close second at Newcastle last week.

I don’t like to back a fav but if BALLYLEMON runs anything like he did when last here, we may be counting our money half way round. This is a bigger field, in a deeper race but I am hopeful the horse can return to winning ways back down to 1m4f. The trainer/jockey won easily on Monday with a similar type and I imagine Ballylemon goes close. The 8/11 to place isn’t ideal but if trying, I can’t see him out of the places.

SPANISH MANE has some of the better paper form, a CD winner off 49, it’ll run off lower today and if ready, should give us a good run for our money on quite a fair price. Given it’s tonight, I’d watch the market and place bets later in the day.

It’s a bit too close to the off to tip in the 14:10 now, nothing too concrete either but I was going to chance AUCKLAND LODGE 6/1 to sneak a place. Four of Ben Haslam’s last 5 runners have finished in the top 3, 3 places in an 8 runner field is ideal. The horse won twice on turf before an OK 4th/11 on the AW. Her half brother has won on the AW for this jockey/trainer so hopefully we can sneak a place at least.
