Racing tips: Notre Pari can exploit a low weight and a low handicap mark

The good form continued yesterday as the only bet of the day was a winner at advised odds of 5/2. Corach Rambler looks a very bright prospect for Lucinda Russell, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some headgear being applied soon, as he won't be able to get away with his antics at a higher level.

Cheltenham 1:15

I get the impression that this could be between two horses. Editeur Du Gite was the first horse which caught my eye, and I do still think he is capable of winning off a 5lb higher mark than his win at Cheltenham in November, but I'm siding with NOTRE PARI to be victorious off a very low weight of 10st 3lbs.

This horse hasn't really kicked on since running over fences, but his current handicap mark makes him a very interest prospect in this race. He has only won twice in his somewhat short career, one in a novice race, the other when carrying a light weight in a Class 2 hurdle handicap at Aintree. He finds himself in a similar position today in this race, running off bottom weight in a Class 2 handicap, but this time over fences and racing around Cheltenham. He has to prove he handles this track, but what makes him an attractive bet in this race is the drop back in trip. He travelled like the winner for the majority of his race at Carlisle, but didn't quite have the stamina to finish it out over 2m 4f on a testing track. We all know that Cheltenham finds out horses who don't have the required stamina, but he should have that for this race which is an extended 2m. He appears to have the pace to drop back to this trip, and he will be seeing out his race stronger than others up the hill.

Hereford 1:57

The price of CH'TIBELLO has collapsed a bit since the market opened, but there is still value left available in my opinion at the current odds of around 9/2. I think his return to racing after a 300+ day absence was a pleasing one to say the least, and he will have come on plenty for that run.

He appeared to be struggling at quite an early stage when compared to others in his last race, but Harry Skelton kept after him and he kept plugging on, where he eventually finished 5th. He has been dropped 3lbs for that run, and now gets the services of Tristan Durrell, who takes off a very handy 7lbs, which means he is effectively running off a mark of 137. That handicap mark makes him extremely well handicapped off old pieces of form, like when he won the County Hurdle at Cheltenham, and his rating went to 156, where he remained competitive and ran respectably in Grade 1/2s.

Dan Skelton was confident that he needed his run last time out, and that was a tough ask off top weight from a long layoff, this looks an easier race, and he can prove his class despite being a 10yo.
