Racing tips: Night can see the light at Southwell

Alan Thomson has a hat-trick of strong fancies at Southwell racing on Sunday.

NIGHT VOYAGER (3.10) has been found a soft novice stakes at Southwell and is strongly fancied to justify favouritism.

He was well-backed to make a winning debut at Lingfield last month but could never strike a blow, although spotted running on steadily into sixth. This more galloping track/surface can show Night Voyager in a better light.

MOURIYANI (4.15) has yet to encounter Fibresand but a reproduction of his Wolverhampton run three weeks ago when pipped by Willkommen would put him firmly in the mix. Favourite Harbour Front dug deep to edge out Straitouttacompton here in a novice stakes and now makes his handicap debut off a fairly lofty mark of 73.

SPEED DATING (4.45) may be the answer to a very ordinary Class 6 handicap. Derek Shaw's gelding could manage only a midfield finish when last seen at Kempton 36 days ago but he beat Never Said Nothing (Wolverhampton winner last night) over course and distance at the end of November. Mark Johnston saddles two fancied runners and the best of his pair could be Golden Fountain, runner-up at Wolverhampton only four days ago.
