A fairly dire set of racecards for Wednesday, so I've not gone overboard with the number of selections. Days like this it's probably best to keep your money in your pocket or lower your stakes.
Nottingham 1:55
Trainer: William Jarvis
Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
Form:
Backing 2yo's blind isn't ideal but the pedigree of this filly screams a good horse, especially as a sprinting juvenile. MISS GALLAGHER‘s mum, Mrs Gallagher was a promising 2yo sprinter for William Jarvis, where she won on debut under Silvestre De Sousa. William doesn't get many 2yo winners, so the fact she won first time out showed the class she had. De Sousa makes the trip to Nottingham for the ride. She was entered in a race at Ascot but was withdrawn. That looked a trappy contest so the fact they were willing to enter her in that race shows that she is showing good progression at home. That race at Ascot was won by her mum, so that's also interesting that they were planning on going down the same route. I don't think this race looks all that impressive from the horses who have form already. Obviously there are unknowns in races like this, but hopefully there will be decent odds available for a yard who doesn't do well with 2yo's.
Nottingham 2:30
Trainer: Peter Chapple-Hyam
Jockey: Callum Hutchinson (5)
Form: 474-0
If Beggarman repeats his recent good form, he could be tough to beat, but the totally unexposed horse in the race is SWISS MISTRESS. With just four runs in his career to date it's hard to see him not being able to progress past his current handicap mark of 65. He has a lovely pedigree and has ran okay in some decent novice races when a 3yo. The recent run can be forgiven as that was his first run of the season and the run was likely needed for fitness. He is a full brother to Technician who was a Group 1 winner in France over staying trips on testing ground, so the forecast rain will be a positive as chances are he'll handle it better than most if the ground does get soft. Callum Hutchinson is 1/1 with the yard so looks a positive booking, worthy of his 5lb claim.
Off to Cartmel races for the day…
Any tips / info would be much appreciated. Cheers
