Racing tips: Low weight low rating combo will see Yorksea tough to beat

I have no words for Enemy, that performance was horrendous and I had to turn it off before the finish as it was that bad.

Goodwood 4:10 – Gregory 5/4 (2pt)

Close to a month ago I put up Gregory on debut at Haydock. His pedigree warranted a bet that day and he duly obliged, winning in good fashion. Today, he steps up in class, but on paper, it's not that deep on a race with the majority of the horses in the race doing similar to Gregory.

Based on his pedigree, Gregory should be able to progress into the 100 ratings, at the very least. He is out a Galileo Mare who has produced Lionel, an ex-David Menuisier now in training with the Gosden's. That horse is currently 109 rated and has won a Listed race, coincidentally being this race 12 months ago. Unlike Lionel, Gregory is by Golden Horn, so the faster ground is where we'll likely see his best performances, so today's ground will be perfect for him.

The highest-rated horses in the lineup don't exactly look untouchable and the form isn't particularly great so they have to be taken on. Unfortunately, we won't get a great price for Gregory due to his pedigree and being trained by the Gosden's, but I think he could be better than this lineup.

Goodwood 5:20 – Yorksea 11/4 (2pt)

I am a big fan of Gary Moore when he gets a horse and gives them a solid campaign over the hurdles and then sends them on the flat for the summer, normally running them off a low mark which can be exploited.

Yorksea fits that bill, and considering he is running off a handicap mark of 72 off bottom weight in today's race, he has to be a bet. Gary Moore won this race with a similar type last year in the same colours as Yorksea, Aggagio, so you'd like to think this has been the plan for this horse since the end of his jumping campaign.

Most of the horses in the race are on fairly tough handicap marks or are in terrible form, whereas Yorksea has done well over hurdles and should be better than his current mark.
