I thought both rides yesterday were a bit off. Both of them gave their horses too much to do, but in reality, The Grey Falco needs further and Striking A Pose wouldn't have landed a blow on the winner.
In hindsight, it should've been an EW play on The Grey Falco, but I can't dwell on that. I will be monitoring where he goes next as I am confident he is a horse who will win soon when getting his soft ground and a slightly longer trip.
Market Rasen 3:15 – Lilith EVS (2pt)
Three of the mares in this four-runner field are 10yo's and arguably on a downward spiral. Lilith, however, seems to be a horse who has more to give in her career and is capable of winning off a rating of 121.
She won last time out, which came as a surprise to me as I thought Maid O'Malley was the one to beat, that horse ran to form but wasn't a match for Lilith. I really like the performance of this mare that day, she jumped nicely and showed that her stamina over this trip is a good attribute. We know she stays further than 2m 5f, with some good efforts over 3m under her belt, but on soft ground and with a strong likely to be set from three horses who have all made the running recently, this could set it up perfectly for her. She's not great odds by any means, but with a clear round of jumping and Rex Dingle doesn't turn into Mandy Dingle like he did on Stormy Flight, she's the one to beat.
Market Rasen 4:25 – Storm Dennis 7/4 (1pt)
I don't think this is a great race, even though the three horses who have claimers on board, arrive in decent form. Made For You likes this track, has run well over a similar trip before, but the form of horses he's beaten isn't really a good level. The Kniphand has done all of his racing on good ground, so must be better on that surface, plus the form doesn't look great. Bold Soldier probably made the most appeal of those with a claimer on board, he ran well at Uttoxeter on soft ground and was behind a subsequent winner the time before.
My dart landed on Storm Dennis, who easily has the best form in this. Chris Gordon has kept him to some good races, and he has run some good race in defeat and has won a couple too. He was pitched into a Class 3 over 2m 5f at Kempton at Christmas, the Skelton winner was well-handicapped, and the horses in behind have run well since. He was mixing it against 120-135 rated horses, which is head and shoulders above the quality in this race today. He's trying this trip for the first time today, so there are doubts whether he'll stay the trip, but he has run on strongly in his races over 2m 5f in the past, so there's a strong possibility he'll finish his race out today. There doesn't look to be a great deal of pace on in this, which should suit Storm Dennis. They might try and get the lead and dictate the pace how they want, or if they go a crawl it will suit him best as he's proven over shorter.
Rex Dingle is 6/12 when riding for Chris Gordon, producing a profit of +£44.50 to level stakes.
Wetherby 4:35 – Great Raffles 3/1 (1pt)
This race is a very low quality race, with the majority of the horses arriving in terrible form. On paper, it's between a couple and I think Great Raffles is the bet in this.
In a race of this nature, having a horse who knows how to win is a big positive. Great Raffles won twice towards the back end of last season and has finished in the places on both occasions this season, so is in good form compared to the rest he races against today. I wouldn't say he's well-handicapped, but against today's opposition, he is the least exposed horse in the race and has the least amount of questions to be answered. He handles the track, having previous won here, he stays the trip and handles the ground. There's a lot to like about his chances, as well as Sean Bowen taking the ride which is eyecatching. Sean is a top quality operator, and he has never rode for Micky Hammond before, which shows a good deal of intent for their chances in this.
3/1 seems more than fair, especially when he has already finished ahead of the favourite when they met each other last time around.
L👀king to bounce back after yesterdays wipe out.

4:15 Clonmel – Johngus
B’ Lucky!
1.55 Clonmel. Been wait to see if they pull Carbon King from this race as it won yesterday at Navan. Trainer says he’s highly unlikely to run today, but they haven’t pulled it yet. Was gonna put up Jukebox Jive ew extra but think the value has gone now. Probably just go ew top 3 now @ 33s. Could be a hefty rule 4 if they do pull it though
