She's A Saint definitely ran to form in her race. She jumped really nicely in front and was given a good ride in defeat by Harry Skelton, she just bumped into a nice type from the Harry Fry stable.
As for Huntsmans Jog, wow. I don't think I've put up a horse that has run that bad so quickly into a race. He was the definition of never in the race. Off the bridle within the first half mile of the 3m race, which is some going. He took a big drift in the market, which is never a good sign, but he looks gone at the game.
Newbury 12:10
Finger's crossed that GRIVETANA‘s price stays around the same as it is now (around 5/4) as at that price I think he is worth a bet, despite being on the short side.
I don't think this race will take a great deal to win, with every horse in the race looking rather exposed in comparison to the Nicholls horse who has only run six times. I really rate the form of his most recent race at this C&D when finishing a good second to First Street. I think if you were to put any horse in this race in that race at Newbury I don't think they would've gotten as close to First Street as Grivetana did, so based on that I think he is better than today's opposition and will have too much for them. I understand he carried a small weight against a horse who had 12st on his back, but he travelled really strongly into that race and lost nothing in defeat.
The form of that race seems decent with the fourth-placed horse winning since and the unseated horse went on to finish in the places in a competitive handicap at Kempton a few days ago. You had the likes of Teddy Blue back in third, who is definitely on a good mark of 129 and it will only be a matter of time before he wins off that rating.
It's strange that this horse was withdrawn on soft ground the time before last as he has won on heavy ground when trained in France, so the forecast rain isn't going to concern me, though it might concern others with that recent pulling from one of his races.
Newbury 1:50
Though this is a decent-sized handicap on a Saturday, I don't think it's as competitive as it might look at a first glance. I think the right horses are towards the head of the market with Pikar clearly having his form boosted in recent times, but I am going for Harry Fry's LADY ADARE.
I get the feeling this horse is still on a good handicap mark of 130. She is unbeaten as a racehorse, and though she hasn't exactly raced in a race of this nature, I think she's won nicely in her races to date and in the fashion of a horse who has plenty more to give, especially off a mark of 130.
Going for a horse who is making its seasonal return isn't ideal, but Harry Fry has had winners from horses off big layoffs, so it's not a concern and it's not like they've not tried to get a run under her belt. She has been a NR two times this year, so has clearly been in a good training camp for this run, considering she has been prepped for runs in the previous months, so I think her fitness will be fine.
Her first win over hurdles looks like a fairly good effort now with the runner-up, Get A Tonic has turned into a decent operator (137 rated), as have others in behind like Tweed Skirt (128 rated over fences), Holly (122 rated) and Credo (120 rated chaser) and she dispatched of all of them with great ease, so I think she could be fairly smart.
Drumlees Pet 12.25 Warwick. Think I put this one up last time but it pulled up 2 out 3m-2f. Drops down in trip today and worth an ew extra @ 45s for top 6 or 100s for top 3 if you’re feeling lucky on the last day of the year

Solar Sovereign – Uttoexter 1203 – 9/1
An open looking maiden event in which I was initially looking at having a punt on Goshhowposh. He is my only tracker horse today and was very impressive on his first outing over hurdles where he came through like a steam train to finish 2nd. He wasn’t nearly as good next time out where he finished 4th in a race where Solar Sovereign finished 2nd 5 1/2 lengths ahead of GHP. You can argue that he could have actually won that race if he hadn’t travelled wide throughout and was not left with so much to do turning into the straight.
Looking at today’s race and considering the fact that GHP is currently the fav at 4/1 compared with SS who you can get at 9/1 for me SS is the play at each way.
SS and GHP are again at level weights however Jordan Nailor takes a handy 3lbs off SS. SS was also coming off a 993 day absence for his first race under rules having previously finished 1st and 2nd in PTPs. The winner of his first PTP contest has gone on to win a few decent races in Ireland.
SS should come on from his recent 2nd st Wetherby and will certainly benefit from today’s step up in trip as proven by his PTP form.
There are other horses in the race that will certainly be a threat to SS but at the odds and looking at the horse’s overall form and scope I think he is the bet of the race.
Good luck all ?
