GROUP STAGE (4.40) chased home a previous soft-ground winner in Jackamundo when they clashed at Nottingham and Alan King's gelding is worth an interest moving up in trip in the 1m 4f handicap at Newbury. Jackamundo won by five lengths last weekend so the form looks quite tasty in this Class 5 grade.
With the ground pretty desperate at Haydock, stakes should be monitored accordingly but AUTRETOT (8.00) has become too well handicapped to let run loose in the 1m 3f handicap. David O'Meara's gelding probably found the fast ground against him at Redcar but still ran well behind Archie Perkins and Aiya.
If Nottingham passes a morning inspection MOON TROUBLE (3.15) will carry my cash in the 6f handicap. The six-year-old did his racing in France before joining Mick Appleby this season and he seems to have settled in fully on the evidence of last week's victory. Always travelling strongly, Moon Trouble readily pulled clear of solid yardstick Goodnight Girl and it's just a question if he handles this totally different ground.
