Sad to see the Curragh's card go down due to a waterlogged track on Sunday, it's some summer we're having in the UK and Ireland, isn't it? I was looking forward to the Sunday card, but that's done and dusted now and Monday's racing is ahead of us.
Windsor 7:50 – Lady Dreamer 9/2 (1pt)
The ground is currently being described as good to soft at 4pm on Sunday, but Windsor is expecting a bit more rain before racing begins, and that might just send it over to soft. So like usual, you'll need horses who will handle these ground conditions and I think Lady Dreamer could be one of them.
She was initially withdrawn because of ‘unsuitable ground' at Yarmouth last year in her juvenile season, but when she ran on good to soft at Carlisle in the middle of June she ran a belter to finish 2nd. The RPR for that performance wasn't great, being -3lbs to her official rating, but I don't see it in the same light as the Racing Post assessor as the front two pulled 4L clear of the third, and the winner made it her 2nd win from two starts so she could be anything and could definitely be better than the 77 rating which she picked up after winning that race. The pedigree of Lady Dreamer would suggest soft ground will be fine, she is related to Bolthole who is a middle-distance horse, but put in the best performance of his life when finishing 2nd at Vichy earlier last week in Class 1 company on good to soft ground, so I get the impression the run at Carlisle wasn't a fluke that Lady Dreamer handled the conditions.
She seems to hit the ground hard with her running action, which is normally a good indicator that a horse will act on slow ground, and though she won on good to firm last time, I just think she might be better on a surface with a bit of juice. She is trained by Tom Ward who is a brilliant up-and-coming trainer and is in good form this season, as well as the last fortnight with 3 wins from 13 runners and he's had 15 from 113 runners this year. I also get the impression that they think she is better than what she is rated as she has gone off favourite three times in the last four races. Drawn in stall 5 she should be able to get a handy position not too wide as many of the lower-drawn horses don't tend to run from the front.
Beverley 7:00 – In These Shoes 6/1 (1pt EW WilliamHill)
There is going to be a very high chance that Beverley's night meeting gets called off due to the amount of rain they are expecting to have at the East Yorkshire track. The ground is already being described as ‘soft' and is at least expecting 8mm of rain, which might send the track into waterlog mode. However, hopefully it remains on and In These Shoes can grab us a win.
I thought she did very well to come from the position she did at Newmarket last time around. She was held up from off the pace, and though they went quick on the front end, she was still a couple of lengths behind the winner by the time they got racing and she managed to whittle that down to just a length and was staying on all the way. I think that will rate as a decent piece of form with the winner looking like a decent handicapper and recording a +10lb higher mark to their official rating. The front two pulled 3.25L clear of the third who had previously finished 5th/10 in a Listed race, so on paper, it bodes well.
Now In These Shoes is dropping back down to a Class 4 I think she will find this task much easier and will appreciate the extra half-furlong on this stiff track.
Good old ATR tracker actually hit me with reminder now by midnight.
ME aka ‘it’s Recoba put this horse up after reading an article saying it be ‘a watching birth ‘for interest.
Reason being costing $1.2 million and straight in on debut to a Stakes Race Vs a very good horse
Flew out gates and then to green and he was eased to finish 2nd 6-7 lengths to a Stakes winner on his last run who was only running for 3rd time.
MAIDEN Special Weight’
Del Mar -R8…Mirahmadi 6/4. *****
Reason for all the support on debut that day was him going 5F in 58.90 ‘breezing from the gate’ and 47.00 over 4 furlong ‘breezing from gate’.
LESS Bob Baffert is at it with his other newcomer that cost $650.000 in Tall Paul this is mad price.
Not a GOOD price but got to be wrong dropping several classs??

£1.2 million and cant handle the stalls less it’s a training excerise ?
Del Mar – R9…Du Jour 7/2 **** ✅
$25.000 and goes off 9/2. The late kick and determination he showed to win through traffic (credit to jockey) was excellent.
Hernandez who was on BOTH horses and showed his class on Du Jour, there was just nothing to be done race before as ye can’t start slow over 5 furlongs it’s just not cricket!

Has barzalona on boards and must have a chance here.
Barzalona likes to front run imo and see him doing that with what looks good shout Elvis.
Like Stanghali at predicted 7/4 in first race Elvis? Ma Momme I’m 2nd so wee Yankee with free bet I think in France for me?
‘Racing Post’ has bit of a surprise article about the 8.20 race at Windsor handicap
Surprising as at first glance it’s not much to write about.
It’s talking about Zargo a Camelot filly and it’s problems etc but reading it he’s convinced to give it a go and break it’s maiden.

Darbucks 4-50 Ayr 5-2
Pipped by jkr cobbler recently but 5 pound swing for a neck could make the difference unless one of the other donkeys show up today of course.
Ayr poet 5-25 Ayr 9-4 ? NAP ?.
With its name it’s ironic it’s won here twice before and came close to number 3 last time out.
Gets lumps of weight of most and carries just 7 stone 12 with the claimers 7 pound allowance.
It’s a class 5 and as I’ve said before they are reliably unreliable.

Been waiting patiently for this horse to race again.Watched him winning last week first time in a handicap over the same trip at Southwell. Had backed the eventual runner up that day and mine never had a chance. Made a real mockery of its lowly mark on its stable debut. Runs over fences today off only a 4 lb higher mark. He is actually running from 10lb out the handicap, but this shouldn’t stop him today so not worried at all.
He was set to run the following day after the Southwell run but was taken out for unsuitable ground as it went soft. Today it should be good ground, there is no rain forecast so it should be perfect.
I read a quote from trainer James Owen saying how this horse had been schooling really well over hurdles and fences since joining the yard. I mentioned other day how it was interesting they have a half share of this horse up for sale, think they will be looking to impress potential buyers.
Looking at his pedigree he is out of Group 1 St Leger winner Kingston Hill and a half brother to Grade 2 placed Ballyarthur.
In form jockey Harry Cobden rides again which is a good sign. He has 28% strike rate in the last fortnight, 7 wins from 25 rides.
Just can’t see this beaten today, its a case of if it jumps it wins imo. I’d have this more around 4/7 so there is value there at 4/5 imo. Appreciate putting a bet up at these odds won’t be of interest to many, but it’s just what I’m backing, so maybe these few words can help someone, or maybe not.
15 points win @ 4/5 bet365
Good luck everyone today
