THE week gets under way with four meetings on Monday and Alan's trio of tips are centre on the Chelmsford action.
Chelmsford 3.40
HARBOUR VISION (3.40) is a dual course winner and Derek Shaw’s gelding went close behind hot favourite Merchant Of Venice at Kempton. He is a hold-up performer and there should be a brisk gallop to attack with free-running course specialist Glory Awaits in the line-up. Juanito Chico could never get involved at Southwell five days ago but should be suited by this quicker surface.
Chelmsford 4.10
MUSTADUN has prospects of overturning warm favourite I’m Available in the one-mile handicap. Mark Johnston’s top weight made subsequent winner Shanghai Grace work hard here in early March and that form may well be on a par with I’m Available’s Kempton success.
Chelmsford 4.45
GREYZEE was strong at the finish when scoring over a mile at Kempton 19 days ago so he should be suited by the step up to ten furlongs at Chelmsford City. The added bonus is the booking of Silvestre De Sousa, who has been in rampant form sincAQe his return from Hong Kong. He is going to ride another bucketful of winners this season and those punters who stick all his mounts in Lucky 15s or mixed doubles and trebles will have a few big pay-days.
Fen Breeze 11/10 1.30 Chelms 2pt
Greyzee 6/4 4.45 Chelms 2pt
1pt DBL @ 4/1. B=-5.
GREYZEE connections let a bet of mine down yesterday but I picked it because the trainer has had a few winners, with SDS on board, the 6/4 looks fine given only one other horse has kept his price from last night.
235c MAAZEL 1pt @ 7/4 nap
This horse has been strong in the market whilst most rivals have drifted, he was 2nd off 53 before winning next time off 53, he was nudged up 2lbs and came 2nd, so is quite a consistent horse. when winning he tavener behind who is very consistent and won on his next start, in third was recent class 7 winner limerick lord. if you are still not convinced, we get the assitance of a 7lb claimer which should make us really hard to beat, not the best claimer but she has a few wins and most of them albeit at Wolves, are over a similar distance to today.
425L TALENT TO AMUSE 0.5pts e/w @ 9/1 and to place 1pt @ 7/4 nb
a little trust needed after a break but dropped down in to class 4 company having performed well in better quality races having taken some decent scalps. he has also seen a little bit of money whilst the Skelton fav who is up 5lbs for a win lto but beat some poor horses is up 5lbs. silk run is in the race, johnson/lacey had a winner yesterday, johnson is at the track and has been on the horse the last three times getting two wins, NDB is back on board today for his sole ride of the day, but i dont like it and I rate Mrsgrey the danger.
745n PADDY POWER 7/2 to place @ 0.5pts
Martineo looks a solid fav on his hattrick bid with James Doyle on board, I am not totally convinced but the place market is absolutely wide open. I thought about Mutabaahy who is definitely capable of placing and looks a fine price at 4/1 for A. Brittain, however I am going to chance a horse taking a decent drop in class. He has 4 duck eggs to overcome but has been seen more in class 2 and 3 as opposed to today’s class 4 event. It may have been 10 months ago but he already beat Athollblair Boy by a length and enjoys an 11lb swing, he has gone out from 8s overnight and is now 12s for win purposes.
accas:
Maazel, Greyzee, Smackwater Jack to all win 0.25pts @ 14.51/1
Maazel, Greyzee, Smackwater Jack, Talent to Amuse to place 0.25pts @ 41.61/1
FWIW:
Dickie Johnson is at Ludlow for Tom Lacey, they shared a winner yesterday and Smackwater Jack seems to be getting all the attention in the 215l, odds on shot last night Dr Sanderson is now 7/4 from 4/5. In the 130c, Shorter Skint is out to 5/2 from 5/4 whilst Mr Potter in the 235c has gone to 13/2 from 10/3 2nd fav last night. TIMOTEO is also out again on his hattrick bid after looking lovely in his first two starts over obstacles, hiked up the weights it’ll be a decent race to watch against VDG.
4pts staked
apologies, that is the last time the bookies trick me. dr sanderson couldnt be given away 4/5 out to 2/1 and saunters to victory, had the form yet I ignored based on what I know to be a manipulated crooked market, lucky it only cost us half a point.
wow. MAZEEL misses the break, then is given an absolute joke of a ride, she literally runs into a wall and the gap is squeezed up, killing any chance having no where to go when coming through the field, mr potter wins, ANOTHER big drifter 10/3 out to 10s.
If you want to make it play long term you need to learn not to be so emotional. Wins and losses are as they are if the selection process is valid then the wins will come .
