Racing tips: Golden Keeper can keep up the profitable combo of Woods and Curtis

Tuesday wasn't the best of days, with two of the three selections running poorly and my most confident bet of the day finished second after looking the most likeliest winner for the entire race.

With the ground being soft and the weather forecasts across the country looking damp, I don't think it's the best of ideas to get involved in the racing as you're banking on horses running well on the ground and horses. Of course, the All-weather is an option, but I'd say AW is my least-best type of racing, so I'd rather not.

Catterick 3:15 – Golden Keeper 3/1 (1pt)

Though I will take a small risk that Golden Keeper handles the soft ground at Catterick, I think it is worth it as he is decent odds in a very poor race.

I'm confident that he'll handle the ground given that he is by Pivotal, who has produced many soft-ground lovers like Glen Shield and Addeybb to name a couple. He seems to stay this trip out nicely, as he has been placed twice on the AW at Wolverhampton on his two starts over 14f. They've decided to geld him over the winter, which seems a smart idea as he's never going to get to the point where he will be worth breeding from and he has tended to be keen in his races, which is why the cheekpieces worked a treat when landing his sole win to date. They've decided to ditch the headgear this time, and I think that will be because the gelding operation has improved his training on the gallops in his temperament and he has learned to settle.

Sean Woods has done well since returning to training in the UK after moving to Hong Kong in the early 2000s, he is 1/1 at Catterick since he returned and he has a good strike rate when Ben Curtis is paired with his horses. Ben is 8/16 for Sean, producing a profit of +22.68 to £1 level stakes.

This race doesn't look great and at the odds, you've got to take on that favourite who seems to be quirky and doesn't have the will to win. He is 0/13 and has finished in the places on multiple of occasions across multiple trips, so you've got to question the mentality of the horse he is currently priced up at 13/8 which seems ridiculous, even though his recent form looks good.
