Racing Tips: Free Horse Racing Tips at Newcastle and Sedgefield

Imperial Ace made it another winning day at the office, winning at advised odds of 10/3.

He was backed Into 5/2 before the off and took a significant step forward from that debut run I mentioned in my previous write-up and won quite comfortably in the end.

On the other hand, I was massively disappointed with Quercus Robur who was a shadow of the horse I have seen last week.

I tried to find an excuse for that performance and all I could possibly narrow it down to was either the run came to soon or that he prefers further. Blaming the trip seems a bit silly as he's won over 1m 4 before but I feel maybe the 2m is his preferred.

Friday's racing is okay but no better than okay. I've 3 selections for tomorrow, yes you read that correctly! Not like me to throw up more than 2 selections as I prefer to keep things more on the steady side of things.

Fox Tail 11/4 – 5:15 Newcastle

This selection comes with its risks but a part of me feels he could be hard to beat if things fall his way.

The Andrew Balding trained Fox Tail hasn't been racing since February last year when he contested in a pretty hot event on the turf in Qatar.

I wouldn't let the lack of racing put you off though as Fox Tail has a pretty decent record when racing fresh.

It's interesting that connections have opted to drop him back in trip to the mile, a trip he hasn't ran over since 2018, hence my comment on this selection coming with its attached risks.

That being said I think this trip could actually play into his strengths. Fox Tail is a horse who's very talented on his day but very quirky and tends to race very enthusiastically. He tends to have an awkward head carriage which can sometimes look quite misleading.

I'm hoping PJ Mcdonald takes Fox Tail forward to race prominently as if he gets to the front and things fall right for him I think he could be hard to pass.

Tathmeen ( TO PLACE TOP 3 ) 13/8

Another risky bet on a horse who's not really fancied in the market but I can't get away from the fact he's seriously well handicapped with a mark of 53.

Tathmeen was once rated in the mid-80s and as much as I know he'll more than likely never reach those heights again, as a result, has plummeted down to a very attractive mark.

He runs over the 5f tomorrow, again another risk as he hasn't won over the trip in roughly 3 years.

However, Tathmeen comes into the race with a decent run when finishing 4th 11 days ago so will have race fitness on his side which is more you can say about a few in this field who have to overcome some absences.

I've decided to use the place market as I'm not fully confident about Tathmeen winning but I thought 13/8 was a decent price to place given how well-handicapped and experienced he is.

Hidalgo De L'isle 5/2 – 12:50 Sedgefield

When Brian Hughes goes to Sedgefield he normally doesn't leave empty-handed and he has a great opportunity upon the Donald McCain trained Hidalgo De L'isle to get the day off to a good start.

He's let favourite backers down on his previous 3 runs which do stretch over roughly 10 months but I'm hoping he can recoup punters some losses tomorrow in what looks a more than winnable race.

After watching a replay of his race at Newcastle I thought he was a tad unlucky. He was beaten in the end by roughly 2 or 3 lengths. He was given quite a lot to do that day when coming a long way off the pace, when asked to close he made up a good bit of ground but the line came to soon for him in the end.
