Wednesday started off with two runner-up finishes and I expected it to continue and be a frustrating day, but Harry Skelton landed a quick double and got us winners with Playful Saint at 2/1 and Our Jet who was backed in from 11/4 to 13/8.

I want to say what a top-class ride it was on Our Jet. He kept his horse wide throughout, keeping him on the better ground and then kicked for home around the bend when the others seemed to be travelling better, even the commentator was shocked that he committed so early as the straight at Leicester is very long. Harry knew what he was doing and gave the horse a power-packed ride to keep him going.

Kelso 1:03

This race looks tricky on paper, but I don't really rate the majority of horses in this and I've gone for DONNY BOY who is the class horse in the race, in my opinion.

If you didn't watch his chase debut and you just looked at the bare facts you'd think it was a terrible run to finish 5th/11 31L behind the winner, but that doesn't tell the full story. I think a combination of a trip being too far and it being his first start of the season, plus being a little too keen meant the trip was always going to be a struggle. He travelled well, jumped nicely and got tired and when he got tired he went backwards very quickly, a true sign of a lack of fitness. I am fine with punters thinking it was a rubbish run as we're getting some decent odds, it's a shame we're not getting the early odds of around 5/1, but around 3/1 will have to do.

This horse was a decent novice hurdler. He was pitched into some good races, including the Grade 2 at Haydock where Jonbon won. He ran okay in that race but was on course for a third-placed finish when running in a Grade 2 at this venue until he was brought down by a fallen horse.

The horse which I thought was of notice was Franigane. It wouldn't surprise me if this horse wins on the back of a huge layoff on chase debut. Harry Whittington is going great guns at the moment and seems to get horses ready first time out. I think he is a danger.

Nothing else really stood out to me as a bet but I will be having a double on:

Leopardstown

1:10 – Queen's Brook 5/6

1:45 – Gaillard Du Mesnil 6/5

Double pays: 3.03/1

2 pulled ups will be nice in this 4 runner race.
Last time out maid o Malley finished 2nd to today’s favourite zambella beaten 14 lengths.
Back in 3rd was Annie Mc beaten a further 10 lengths.
Today they run off same terms and Annie Mc is 5-1 and maid o Malley 25-1 !!!!!.

PP money back offer at Leopardstown 13.45, 7 runners free bet for top 4 places, and 2 are short priced so probably between the top 2 in the betting. I’m taking a punt on bigger price horse, as low as 10/1 with 365 plus few bookies shortening odds on it.

    Cedar Hill – Kelso 1.03 – 11/2

As Riz has pointed out this race does look quite competitive on paper but when you delve a bit deeper, in my humble opinion, the most likely winner is Cedar Hill.

The horse has a good record at the track having won 4 times over CD and will be fine on the heavy ground conditions. He actually won this contest last year off today’s mark and on heavy ground.

His performance last time out as the fav wasn’t the best but he made a few mistakes and can be given credit for still finishing relatively close to the winner. It is a result of this performance that he’s been dropped to the mark he won this off last year.

Connections are confident that he’ll run a big race today and even though he’s currently at a price where an each way bet is viable I’m confident of a winning performance so my hard earned is down for the victory.

    Good luck all 👍

    Just the 2 selections today

    1.45 Three Stripe Life 11/8

Just can’t have GDM although he ran well lto. He’s never won over fences and although this isn’t the strongest grade 1 you’ll see he usually finds one too good.
Hopefully if beaten it will cement him for the NHC.

    3.25 King Of Kingsfield 7/4

The Elliott horses have to give Mullins horse 7lbs but the jockey on KOK takes it back which could be the main reason why Codd is on the other.
First time headgear which will hopefully make him concentrate on the job.

Wee straight £4 Tote Trifecta with Mullins horses there!
Not sure it pay much but love Sharjah just couldn’t see beating stable mates.

Use it for a Trixie on…

    Geesekille…2.40. 11/4
    Spirit Legend…2.55. 4/1
Phillips Sue. 5/2 (that rhymes and you know it does..admit it!)

To close to off for Geeskille so Zambella in 3.10 at 10/11 be alright for multiple.
