Racing tips: Domandlouis can keep up the good form for 2x Grand National winning trainer Lucinda Russell

Master Malcolm put in a game performance from the front on Sunday and that gave us a small profit on the day with Drop Him In not running great in the 4:25.

Kelso 3:20 – Domandlouis 7/4 (2pt)

Even though Domandlouis has done most of his better runs at a lower level, this isn't a great Class 3 race and when you consider he's running off 10st 2lbs, he's got to be in with a great chance of winning this.

He is a course winner over hurdles, and though he is 0/4 over fences, his most recent attempt at Musselburgh was definitely an improvement from what he had previously shown. He finished 2nd to Concetto who was evidently very well handicapped off a mark of 107, as he produced a performance worthy of 125 and ran a good race the time after off a mark of 116. The third horse has franked the form slightly by finishing as a close runner-up on his next starts, and he was 21L behind Domandlouis, so it reads well.

Bavington Bob would be one to be worried about if he arrived in better form, as he won this race 12 months ago off the same handicap mark he races off today. This is a weaker race than what he has been against, sois entitled to run a big race, but carrying 12st again my selection might be too much.

Kelso 3:55 – Lady Hamilton 4/1 (1pt)

When a horse runs a big race at big odds it tends to put doubt into your mind about whether it was a fluke, or the form isn't strong. I think neither of those statements is true and I think Lady Hamilton could run a belter in this race and 4/1 is fair enough odds.

She finished 3rd at 100/1 at Doncaster 31 days ago and clearly made a big step forward from her previous two races over hurdles, which looked like she was going to have not a great career as a racehorse as she was terrible on the flat too, but the last run definitely puts her in with a good chance in this race today. The winner has won by 7L on her next start, the fourth finished 2nd to Greyval (nice 4yo) on her next start and then won the time after by 5.5L

This race isn't great, but it looks competitive on paper as a fair few arrive in decent form, but Lady Hamilton is definitely the least exposed and running off 10st 4lbs she could easily win this.

Kelso 5:40 – Here Comes Georgie 9/2 (1pt)

A bit of a strange one, but it seems far too much of a coincidence that Gavin Sheehan travels all the way up to Kelso for one ride in the final race of the day at Kelso. I refuse to believe he comes up all that way if Here Comes Georgie hasn't got a very good chance of winning the bumper.

Patrick Neville has done an alright job since moving over to the UK fully, which has seen him land a Cheltenham Festival winner with The Real Whacker, and he has used Gavin quite frequently this year so people might say he is just riding for a trainer who has used him in the past. I think that's nonsense as the jumps season is coming to a close and Gavin doesn't need to come up to the Scottish borders for a £2,723 race.

It might not seem like a great explanation of the thought process for the pick, so you're more than welcome not to back him, but I'll be having a small wager.
