I feel like Jose Mourinho when he got asked about the referee from one of his games and he replied “If I speak, I'm in big trouble”. That's how I currently feel about Hollie Doyle's ride on Corinthia Knight. Similar to Paul Mulrennan on Jawwaal last week at York, but I definitely think yesterday's horse could've hosed up if they ‘tried', which they didn't. Terrible ride and terrible disguise of not trying. Like Jawwaal, I'll be backing him next time out as he's a winner in waiting.
Brighton 2:00
Trainer: Tony Carroll
Jockey: David Probert
Form: 959-98
Recent form number of DE VEGAS KID aren't great but that has resulted in his handicap mark dropping drastically and now running off a mark of 60 I think he is worth a try now he's back at a track he knows and loves.
It's probably a strong argument that he is better over a furlong longer but his numbers over 7f is still good at this track. They read 2,1,2,5 over this C&D and if given a good pace to aim at I think he could run a blinder off a low handicap mark. David Probert is a good jockey booking as not only is he one of the better flat jockeys around at the moment, but he has won on this horse before and has gone close on a couple of times as well.
Though some horses enter this race in better form, it's not a great race and if De Vegas Kid comes back to anywhere near his form from some of his races last year, he should be beating this lot without any hassle.
Wolverhampton 4:20
Trainer: Charlie & Mark Johnston
Jockey: Joe Fanning
Form: 69-852
The step up in trip appeared to suit WHITCLIFFE last time at Beverley where he ran a belter to finish as close as he did to a well handicapped, progressive winner. Based on that run, you'd like to think an untouched mark of 62 is well within his capabilities and is worth a chance in this race which doesn't appear to be as strong, or have the same level of progressive horse. I don't think he will be able to front run like he did last time as there are a couple of other pace angles in this, but that shouldn't be a worry.
