Ottoman Fleet returned a nice winner for me on the day at advised odds of 15/8. I thought the fitness edge would play into his favour and when they went quite quickly on the front end I was quietly confident a fair bit from home.
William Buick gave him a lovely ride from the rear of the field. He ran into some minor traffic problems but ultimately when the gap opened it was curtains for the rest of the field.
I'm sticking to my beloved flat racing tomorrow at Newmarket and hopefully, I can land another winner.
Coppice 7/4 – Newmarket 3:35
This is a competitive class 1 race and although Coppice hasn't been seen at the races as much as the rest I think she holds solid claims to take this step up In class in her stride.
She's an extremely well-bred filly, a full sister to Calyx. If we take our minds back to 2018 you might remember Calyx's debut where she hammered home in a Newmarket novice to then go on and win the Coventry Stakes a week or so later at Ascot.
Coppice hasn't been seen since winning a class 4 contest at Kempton last year. It was a race ran at a snail's pace but she travelled beautifully and quickened well in the business end to go and win comfortably.
She's a filly I've been looking forward to seeing and I'm hoping she'll go well fresh and not need the run.
Frankie Dettori rides Coppice for the Gosdens tomorrow.
There's quite a gamble already on this race on Queen Olly who was 25s and is now into 12s. Some of her earlier form is quite strong and she was definitely overlooked at 25s when prices were originally released but I still feel Coppice has more to offer.
