Alan Thomson is hoping to pocket some Cheltenham expenses with one bet at Naas on Sunday.
AN Irish colleague has flagged up CAPUCCIMIX (2.10) and I'm told there is plenty of confidence behind him in the opening Beginners' Chase at Naas.
The big, robust grey has taken time to fill into his frame but acquitted himself well behind Cash Back at Navan and Chosen Mate at Gowran Park. That form is superior to anything his rivals have mustered and although Capuccimix isn't much of a price, he can help defray Cheltenham expenses. I'll be busy working on Cheltenham tips on Sunday so there will be no post covering Monday's racing. Tips and observations for the opening day at the festival will be online Monday evening. Tally ho!
Have been following for about a year now, never even dawned on me to make an account . Thanks for all the quality winners over the year first of all 🙌 from 66/1 to odds on, great amount of knowledge here , work in boylesports king of rule 4s. Gone very quiet in here lately hope it gets noisy for Cheltenham 😂
Allaho to win anywhere he runs.
Billlaway to win foxhunter. my best bet. ew knowing Cheltenham.
Throw up some for sunday’s racing.
Wasntexpectingthat 4-30 southwell 9-4 NAP.
came 2nd at wolves yesterday and 2nd in a class 2 here last month.
This is a class 4, horse running well so if he runs again today I presume the trainer thinks he is fit enough
Thanks for that
👍👍
Thanks for that one much appreciated
3.05 moroder 20-1 each way 5 places

i moaned at my novice friend betting a 5/6 shot in a ew double yesterday and now you’ve put up a 4/7, 5/6 and 2/1 shot in an each way treble, probably the worst bet i’ve ever seen.
Afternoon all. No bet on here for a few days.
just a couple of little E/W’s
WARWICK
15.05. . Thoor Castle. .11/1
16.10. . Tribesmans glory. .10/1
If your reading Thanks to ‘ B’ yesterday for the 12/1 .Hope my 5/2 returned a bit of the favour.

We all know who. bez. w2m .the meg .double handful . etc etc etc is insulting our intelligence thinking we dont.
gl at Cheltenham
came on for a look at todays but no thread yet.
Cheers bus stop.
As you know talking about winners here without posting is an open invitation to trolls unfortunately.
You fancy owt tomorrow ?.
Forecast today is rain rain rain so course form and soft/heavy form needs to be looked at.
Had to be towed out of a field with a tractor last year so better take the old wellies 😨.
Strange there is no thread today with 3 jump cards isn’t it
Good luck if you find owt today 👍👍
1:50 southwell DALKADAM 5/1 bet 365
DANNY MULLINS been one of my fav irish jockys over the years, and that 14:40 ride is why, that’s what you wanna see from your jockey, got him back and over at the line, lovely ride.
ZYLAN 7/1 looks value in the 430, on last winning mark which was CD, got within 0.5l of hareem queen, class 1 winner now off 93, looking at his form it has a very strong look to it given the horses he has beat/come close to.. two ahead of him in the market, big price for a reason i suppose but looks very nice on paper.
Elvis excellent 💥nap skipped home🏇 Big well done👍👌
Cheers for Capuccimix, did a small atakes accy on it with 7 fitba teams, cashed out for £62.48, good decision as Copenhagen went behind to a late goal at home to Horsens. That’s my money sorted for Cheltenham day 1.
Hills paying 7 places on supreme novice hurdle Tuesday.
Will be something decent odds in first 7
ENVOI ALLEN.
where is this thing running.
Yesterday he was running in supreme novice and was 7-4.
Today he is 7-1.
Trainers messing punters around again with this Bollox.
2 I’ve backed weeks ago on day one still entered.
Vinndication ultima handicap on at 14-1 ew nrnb, now best price 13-2 (6 places).
And silver streak champion hurdle 33-1 ew nrnb, now best 25-1 (4 places)
Have done ew double on these new terms 13-2 and 25-1.
At the moment Vinndication would be my best pick on tuesday.
One minus is trainer has a poor record in handicaps at the festival.
Elvis
Elliott confirmed this morning he’s running in the Ballymore.
He said on the Betfair preview that he would walk the course and then make his decision based on the ground.
Pain in the ass all right but within his rights.
Cheers for that dc
DC.
Connection quoted earlier this week as saying he runs in the supreme but believed he could win the champion, now going in the ballymore !!.
Makes no sense.
Hi all !!
Lol , Elliott looking about the ground , really a great joke , E . Allen won on every ground , he had entrys for many races , how Elvis said , I think Elliott looking for the best race , thats why the team wait so long , because for me it is the best chance after Tiger Roll , for the team to win a race at the festival , the Ballymore its a good choice , its a Gr1 , not many high class horses , but a big field , is always dangerous , to get in trouble with fell horses .
The odds say it , very short price for Envoi Allen , and a big chance for the Elliott team .
How Elvis said , its 4 days , control your bankroll , looking foward for your best bets .
All good luck for the Festival , See you tomorrow at DAY 1 .
I will be at cheltenham on Tuesday for my annual festival day out so put my quick thoughts here.
These will undoubtedly change once I read the posters thoughts here and of course those of money Thomson and voice of value.
Day one quick picks.
13-30 captain Guinness 16-1 ew 7 places (hills).
14-10 notebook 3-1 (unibet).
Notebook beat fakir doudaries at Xmas giving away 7 pounds and not seen any reason why this should be overturned.
14-50 Vinndication 6-1 (skybet) 6 places ew. NAP.
Already on this at 14-1 ante post.
Finished 10 length 5th in the jlt last year behind defi du seuil, and Lostintranslation which now looks good festival form.
Kildisart was 4th and goes here at 9-1 and could be interesting.
15-30 silver streak 25-1 (hills) ew 4 places.
Already on this at 33-1 ew.
The forgotten horse for me, finished 100-1 second last year in a better renewal for me.
16-10 benie des dieux wins, honeysuckle for the forecast.
Last year’s 1st roksana and 2nd stormy island go again and maybe the younger horse stormy island will finish ahead this time and has better form this year so 12-1 ew could be a play.
16-50 Henderson pair precious cargo 16-1 and champagne mystery 33-1 ew.
Nico de boinville won on champagne mystery in november but opts for precious cargo here !!.
SKYBET paying on 6 places here….
17-30 not looked at this race, have to see if I have any money left after first 6 races first 😂.
Fine write up Elvis👍
Can write more jimba but on the balance of probability lucky to get more than 2 or 3 profitable returns.
Everyone has different ways of looking at races which makes it important you read as many write ups across the board to gain a consensus.
Today for example I’ve seen shantou flyer tipped up a few times in the foxhunter.
Copperhead tomorrow.
Lostintranslation gold cup etc.
Always worth doing a multi line placepot too as it can pay well and can keep you involved if your single bets go down.
Cant wait for tomorrow. Week off work, cans in the fridge and back room tv booked !!
A few jobs around the house to do today so I will put up my selections for day 1 now and post some reasoning later when the jobs are boxed off.
Some prices are shorter now as I had taken earlier prices
1.30 Asterion Forlonge 4/1
2.10 Fakir D’oudairies 6/1 ew
2.50 Discorama 12/1 ew Big River 20/1 ew
3.30 Cilaos Emery 8/1 ew Ballyandy 20/1 ew
4.10 Benie 4/5 ( treble with Tiger Roll and Appreciate It)
4.50 Galvin 8/1 ew Hold the Note 10/1 ew
5.30 Oceans Cove 50/1 ew
BOL
Benie at 4-5 looks like big aye.
Has to be in most accumulators surely barring a fall etc
Golden rule for me split your affordable betting bank for the week into 4, one pot of dough per day then you have interest for the whole week.
I used to get carried away on day one and usually left with pennies after.
All a learning curve I guess.
With the government about to announce curfews on large gatherings it’s lucky it’s Cheltenham this week, another week and could well have been racing behind closed doors.
ga law 2.10 marretimo 2.20
Couple of singles up there while in the William Hill shop after planning to have a no bet day(small stakes but winners)
One that just seen from my tracker is Nineohtwooneoh in the 4.05 at 11/10 so…
2× singles and a small double with Inevitable Outcome in the 3.40.
“An thats all she wrote”
GL
klassical dream breezed home last year, think mullins wins the opener again.
Supreme Hurdle
Very tricky start to the festival but have gone for Asterion Forlonge purely because he was impressive at Leopardstown pulling away from a strong field to win a grade 1 by 9 1/2L.
All the stats are against Shishkin and I just cant back him. Not saying he wont win, he might be a wonder horse, but not for me.
Fiddlerontheroof I think is the main danger. He has improved with each run and conditions will be in his favour.
Arkle Chase
Notebook is the right favourite and so far hasn’t put a foot wrong.
However, he had a hard race at the Dublin Festival and it’s hard to know how he has recovered from that.
Hes also very temperamental and wont have come across an atmosphere like Cheltenham before. If backing him I would wait till hes at the post.
Fakir D’oudairies hasnt ran since December and will be fresh and ready for this.
I thought the tactics used when beaten by Notebook were wrong and he was closing towards the finish. Hes also got Cheltenham experience and wont mind the conditions.
richard fahey sparked into life, 3 wins outta 4, has one more at wolves tonight in the 640, theyve already won a race here tonight so maybe they were just here for that but at 12/1 he will carry my EW stake
LEXINGTON WARFARE 12/1 640W
1f out looked like we had it, placed all the same..
i backed MISTER SNOWDON at 7/2 last night, one 33/1 NR taken out and he is 11/10 in the last, BOL.
Ultima H’cap
The fav has a poor record in this race with only 2 winning since 1977. This years fav, Vindication, has a rating of 159 which is a big ask. He also has a tendency to jump out to the right so might be better suited to right hand tracks.
It’s been a good race for horses who ran well the previous year at the festival.
Discorama was 2nd in the National Hunt Chase and is in here off the same mark . He should have no problem staying the distance and I’d love to see Paul Nolan have a festival winner.
The irish though have a poor record in the race so I have a saver on Big River who was 4th last year and made a mess of the first fence and dropped back through the field before finishing like a train to claim 4th. 20/1 with 6 places with pp.
Champion Hurdle
An awful renewal but a tricky one to pick from nonetheless.
I put up Cilaos Emery here a couple of weeks ago at 8/1 when I heard the news he was supplemented for the race.
Hes a 165 chaser and if he can run to that level back over hurdles will take a lot of beating.
I just cant see him out of the frame here and I’m sure Mullins is happy with what hes seen otherwise he wouldn’t have been supplemented.
Mares Hurdle
Benie just wins
Northern Trust Chase
Backed 2 here, Galvin at 8’s and Hold The Note at 10,a, both ew.
A mark of 142 looks very fair for Galvin and Hold the Note ran a cracker in a grade 2 lto and a repeat of that should enable him to go close
National Hunt Chase
Carefully Selected is the best horse in the race and if he stays on his feet should win.
But the price is just too skinny for me and at 50/1 I’ve backed Ocean Cove who is an out and out stayer and has been crying out for a trip like this.
I see the 50’s is gone now and is best priced 33’s now.
