IT was only one runner on Wednesday after my big tip Churchill was withdrawn from the big race.
I'm now 1.5pts up for August and both my Thursday tips are running at Glorious Goodwood.
Well done to all of yesterday's winners and let's hear your tips and chat.
Johnb's Thursday Tips
- Goodwood 1.50 – Society Red 25-1 NB unibet
- Goodwood 3.35 – So Mi Dar 7-2 NAP bet365
- Double 111.58-1 unibet
Johnb's Antepost Tips
1000 Guineas update
Johnb says: “There is no better feeling than seeing your antepost tips getting shorter & shorter and judging by connections' thoughts the 8-1 still looks big, I went in again at 14-1 and have gone in again at 8-1.”
Winter shouldn’t do but gets 8 pounds off so mi dar, and so mi dar not run since October.
Will winters stamina hold over this distance in soft conditions ?
Shutter speed won 2 of his 3 races on soft including the muisidora at York and beat enable at Newbury.
At 8-1 looks decent ew shout but Frankie has chosen so mi dar and that is obviously a worry, but smullen not a bad replacement is he !
1 shutter speed
2 winter
3 so mi dar
I did say at the time though that Enable looked the better long term prospect between her and Shutter Speed and that Enable would have more improvement
I believe her win over Enable was false as Enable wasn’t really tried with that day
Shutter Speed is a non runner?
Well done all winners yesterday.
Here are my picks for Epsom…
17.50 Miss Inga Sock 13/2
18.25 Ya Jameel 5/2
18.55 Doublet 13/8

20.30 Golden Guest 11/4
I’m on miss inga sock too and Becca Campbell in the 6-25.
Eve Houghton’s horses seem to like soft ground and she had a 6-1 winner at sandown yesterday.
Nice start
Profit guaranteed thanks to the sock. Done 2 singles and wee double.
Nice one Elvis parsley!!!

Ew theif, nothing on your record yet?

3 for 3?
Quality do the card ?☘️
Argh do I cash out my £1 6 fold for £450 or stay in for a chance to win £3k??
Don’t believe in cash out
But claim 400 for1 bet stick 50 on the last ??
I don’t believe in cash out either despite the fact ive screwed myself out of decent money many times lol.
Oh well, still some decent wins.
I’m at the stage in my “betting lifestyle” where a little knowledge is dangerous. ?
It’s always a difficult decision. For a £1 I’d have cashed out (and bought the new driver I’ve been eyeing up) but equally would have been gutted if the original bet didn’t win.
The extra would have been nice but I also had a lucky 63 playing so I figured decent wedge was coming back any way so go big or go home ?

It’s Day 3 of Glorious Goodwood, I keep getting reminded it’s the Qatar Goodwood Festival but it will always be Glorious Goodwood to me, a picnic in the car park before racing and you have to get your lucky white heather on the way in and of course wear a Panama hat but you can keep your Pims, lager will do me,
as I have said this is my favourite meeting and my most profitable one over the years
The Nassau Stakes is one of the best filly & Mare races in the world, a group 1 race with a history of big winners
SO MI DAR can win this race for a second time for owner Lord Lloyd-Webber after THE FUGUE in 2013
So Mi Dar hasn’t seen a racecourse for 305 days and as a 4yo with five runs she still has scope for improvement, she brings some good form to the race and goes on today’s ground, stablemate Shutter Speed is a non runner but it was always a no brainier which horse Dettori was going to choose
Some people would say that a horse “Winter” that has won the 1000 Guineas, Irish 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes would be a penalty kick receiving 8lb from the second favourite but she does have to prove herself over further against a better horse
We do have to take So Mi Dar’s fitness on trust but connections are positive and Gosden wouldn’t risk her unless he thought she could win
In the first race of the day I have gone with a 25/1 shot although now 14/1 SOCIETY RED has ground today he will love and is running over a more suitable distance which was his problem last time along with running too freely, a repeat of his second to Defoe would give him a good chance today
NAP ENDLESS TIME 2.25

Johnb do you have any season bet tips for the championship league 1 and league 2?
Not had a proper look at other leagues as looking forward to Hibernian this season, gonna see something special this season,
Two though I liked were NOTTINGHAM FOREST 40/1 in the Championship, they will miss Assombalonga but I like a few of their signings, Daryl Murphy, Barrie McKay and Cummings
In league one I have a fancy for Rotherham 33/1 like the signing of Jamie Proctor and think he will get a few goals
I’ll put up tips over the next few days but I see the Racing Post have tipped Cummings ew at 66-1 for Championship top scorer.
He’s a natural scorer as we know but it’s a big challenge to go down to the Championship and star right away.
Not sure about Warburton after what he did or didn’t do at Rangers.
Mr f even though Stokes is back I think Simon Murray is a better 66/1 than Cummings, should make a good partnership Cummings and Daryl Murphy and fancy Murphy to bag a few
Monticello 1.50 poets prince 4.10 ew singles ew double well done all winners yesterday
Thank god for that one!!
Got 7/4 the other day CRAZY!!
Ride of the year from Levey
On to Fridays racing then.
Had Society Red with enhanced placing as well and still couldn’t figure in top 5!
Winter proving formidable.
August 1.5pts down
Fridays Tips
Thirsk
5:00
Creek Walk 1/1 NAP/NB paddy power (double stake)
Newmarket
7:00
Game Starter 7/4 bet365
8:00
Mountain Hunter 5/4 paddy power
Bath
7:40
Banff 2/1 bet365
Also 0.25pt yankee paddy power 1/1 13/8 5/4 15/8
Goodwood continues Friday with Day 4 but it’s off to Thirsk I go for my Nap
Its not surprising that Creek Walk drops in distance here but it is surprising he drops to 5f but he should have too much class for these at any distance, it’s a weak race and Creek Walk has the best form with trainer Bin Suroor also having a good record at this course
Next up is Newmarket for two selections and like my Nap these two are Godolphin horses, at 7pm we have GAME STARTER and by Dubawi a bit of cut in the ground won’t worry him, he has good form and has the scope for the most improvement out of these,
An hour later it’s Godolphin again and a horse making his debut, MOUNTAIN HUNTER stands out on breeding, I am surprised to see him over a mile as I thought he would have been better over shorter but he does have a positive jockey booking in De Sousa
At 7:40 we head to Bath and to a trainer who is making a name for himself, the Olly Murphy trained BANFF should be hard to beat here, after winning at Newcastle with a mark of 47 he turns up at Bath on a mark of 53 but with a 7lb claimer onboard, so he is effectively running from a 1lb lower mark than Newcastle, should also love the ground
