Racing tips: Adamantly Chosen eyes up Graded success over fences

It was a profitable day on Tuesday with one of the two selections winning and winning nicely. I had a feeling the Skelton horse was worth taking on as she had to carry a lot of weight for an inexperienced chaser and the form didn't look bulletproof.

As for the other, he took a tumbling fall at the last when looking booked for 3rd place. Hopefully, he got up okay. I think he commentator mentioned he ran past the finishing line, which is a good sign.

For today, I'm going to go for something different and something I rarely do and that is put up a double instead of single bets. There's not much I like the look of, other than a couple of horses who are too short to tip up as singles.

Punchestown 3:55

I was on the receiving end of a battering when tipping up Grand Roi against ADAMANTLY CHOSEN. Willie Mullins' chase debutant was very good at Listowel and put my selection firmly in his place. Adamantly Chosen was a decent hurdler, but it appeared to me that chasing is his game and has been his game ever since joining the Mullins yard, and I can see why they were confident at Listowel.

He made as good a debut of fences as you could hope for. Made very few errors and won in a canter. He would've hopefully come on for that run in terms of fitness, and even though he looked a solid jumper, the experience on a racecourse will be worth its weight in gold, especially now as he takes on the big boys in this Grade 3 contest.

Though it's hard to say what level this race is at the start of this season, I don't think it is that great and it wouldn't surprise me if Adamantly Chosen won this on the bridle, or not being asked for a maximum effort. I get the feeling they really like this lad and for Willie to chuck him in this race after one chase race shows the confidence they have in his jumping and his ability.

Punchestown could suit him as he did tend to jump towards the right at a few of his fences.

Punchestown 4:30

Carrying top weight is never ideal, especially in a Graded race, but I find it very difficult to go against GALVIN.

I know this race isn't going to be anywhere near his target for this season, but it seems they are following the same path for him as they did 12 months ago, where he went on to win this race.

This years renewal doesn't look spectacular, but if you take away Galvin from the lineup you'd have to say it's a competitive race, but considering he is a Grade 1 horse in a Grade 3 race, he should be extremely difficult to beat even though he is carrying a penalty.

Gordon Elliot has been quoted saying he looks great at home and that he is very excited to see him back at Punchestown, so from that I think they are supremely confident of a big performance, and for me he should be tough to beat and makes up the second leg of my double for Wednesday.
