It was nice to get another winners yesterday, to keep the good run of form rolling. The second selection of the day ran well in the bumper, and I wouldn't be giving up on him just yet, as I think that was a decent little bumper, so he could be one to follow when he goes over hurdles.
Market Rasen 3:20
Today's racing doesn't look all that great, and nothing really screamed off the page, other than GUETAPAN COLLONGES who runs in the handicap chase at Market Rasen. I saw this lad win last time out at Wetherby, and the manner in which he won was very impressive. The fact he won by 14L shows how good he was that day, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know he's a progressive horse, but he was visually very impressive, and I believe he has the ability to cope with the rise in the weights.
Today's race is clearly going to be a tougher ask than it was last time out, due to the weights, but also he is arguably against better horses this time around, and has to face different conditions to what he clearly relished at Wetherby. He tries 3m for the first time, but based on what we've seen from him so far throughout his career, that should be fine, but also the ground is no where near as soft as last time, so he'll have to prove that he does handle quicker conditions.
Animal looks to be the main danger in terms of the market prices, and if I'm honest, I don't think he is the one we need to be wary about. I've been on the receiving end of burnt fingers from backing this horse in the past, and to say he's quirky, is being polite, as he isn't the easiest horse to win with. I did think that he would be suited when he went up in trip. He did win last time, but that looked like a weak race, and now he's up in the weights in a tougher race, I think he'll be found out. With the form of the Venetia Williams stable, you'd imagine that Brianstorm is the one we need to be wary of.
