JOHNB'S antepost tipping is the stuff of legends and he has posted some brilliant winners down the years.
With almost a year to go to the 1000 Guineas he has identified a potential winner.
He says: As highlighted a while ago Clemmie was a horse I was interested in for next year's Classics. I honestly feel nobody comes close to challenging me when it comes to spotting early talent.
“It’s all about the breeding and how a horse looks, when I look at a horse I can actually picture them a year later, frame filled out and when they run I can usually spot the ones who will or won’t train on but not all the time as nobody is perfect.
“I have managed this time round to do what I haven’t been able to do for the last 3 or 4 years and that’s get to yards and look at horses which is all thanks to my antepost winners. Getting out and being able to see horses makes life a whole lot easier and this time as I have stated previously I can see 2018 being one of the best crop of 3yo’s ever.
“The Galileo horses look as good as ever, the Camelot horses are looking good and even the second crop of Frankel look better.
“Clemmie will be right up there next year but there are other horses I am really interested in, I can see myself having three fillies and three colts as early antepost selections which is far more than I would normally back but as I said next year looks good.
“Clemmie nearly matched her brother on debut, she came third like him, she wasn’t an obvious eye-catcher early on.
“Like Churchill she looked beaten a long way out, wasn’t travelling at all and looked really disappointing. But like her brother the further into her debut she went the better she looked, she wasn’t asked too much but did finish off her race well.
“She was in front a stride after the line, her balance was good, her action looked good and there were obvious signs of improvement to come.
“For me it’s pretty simple for her next race with Aidan O’Brien only having to decide whether to let her follow in her brothers footsteps and go for the Chesham Stakes at Ascot where she is 6-1 or whether to take her to Leopardstown. It should be either one of these but wherever she goes she goes with a leading chance.
“At The Curragh Clemmie was head and shoulders above her rivals in looks and it’s easy to see her next year all filled out and big for a filly, her temperament was good and although not travelling well early on she learned quickly.
“Like I say there are others that who appeal for next season but I have no hesitation in advising Clemmie – a horse I spotted weeks ago – as one of my 2018 Classic choices
“Anyone looking to follow my antepost selections for next year's Classics only need to look at my record since I have been on this site.
“All four seasons I have had a Classic winner with Churchill this year being my shortest-priced at 20-1 and my record before coming on here is just as good.”
2018 Antepost Tip
1000 Guineas
Clemmie 25-1 bet365
Only 342 days till the race!
I had a bet on her for the 1000 guineas next year before she even run. Was quite disappointed Hills only gave me 20/1 and im sure it’s due to the Churchill factor. But after that run, with 20/1 still available I’m sure she is worth another punt, ill just see where her next race will be and also how the form of that race works out. Thanks for the early spotting advice. Looking forward to the colts that catch your eye.
